Lebanon, Missouri

Sunday, March 26, 2017

My location:  Lebanon, Missouri – Walmart parking lot

It was a nice place I stayed last night.  Quiet, but I couldn’t sleep.  Guess, I’m just ready to get home.  Got up at 5:30 and watched the Sun come up while I cleaned up the kitchen area and cleaned all the dishes, then sat down and read blogs while I ate little white donuts and drank coffee.

I was just thinking.  I left home on December 27th and today is March 26th.   Three months on the road and I stayed only one night at an RV park.  Not bad.  That’s a lot of boondocking.

I was so tired last night by the time I finished my blog for the evening, I didn’t fix dinner, so this morning, I made up for it.  Three pieces of bacon, two fried eggs and a buttered bagel.  Washed that down with milk.  Then I finished up with half a grapefruit, a breakfast bar and a glass of OJ.  Ready to hit the road at 9 o’clock.

I drove 360 miles today and got into Lebanon around 4 o’clock.  I finally get to my destination early, and have nothing to blog about.  It was just a nice day with no wind and slightly overcast skies.  Perfect day for driving.

Rest area on I-44 toll road.  The roads today were great.  The toll fee from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Joplin, Missouri is $22.

It is Spring in Missouri with the green grass and budding trees.

I’m parked on the North side of Walmart across from the Auto Center.  Going to be  a nice quiet evening here.

See you later.

  1. Almost home! It was good to have an easy day's drive. Driving does wear you out, though. A great photo of the green pasture and beautiful horses! Hope you can get a good night's sleep.
PS I warned Fergie that you and Yuma were almost home. ☺

  2. Sometimes an uneventful travel day is the best - big breakfast, nice weather, pretty scenery, stop early, pleasant place to spend the night. I wonder if you are going thru St.Louis ?? or gonna avoid it ?? Either way, I wish you and Yuma a relaxing travel day on the final leg of your journey. So nice to be Homeward Bound. 🎂🎉🎀🎂

  4. Understand the feeling. When we start "officially" heading east later this week it will be a slow trek and we will enjoy the journey but probably when we cross into Wisconsin we will start getting anxious to be in the UP. Glad you had a good travel day after the one leaving New Mexico you had it coming. Sounds like tomorrow will be your last travel day...be safe.

  7. Good progress for home Doug, that feeling of "just wanna get there" does seem to grow as home gets closer doesn't it. We've been home for a week now, mostly I'm wishing I was still out on the road somewhere. Ah well, next year. Adieu for now,
    Gord.

  8. You are really moving now and so will we be after a couple of days in Grove. Dolly will be happy to see her boys home again. Love the first picture of Yuma watching you from the door of your rv. Clemson does that stance as if "where are you going without me?" Safe travels, it will be nice to be home I'm sure. Once we get the itch, we just want to move as well.

  9. Hi Doug! You're almost home! I'm so excited! And only 1 RV park in 3 months? You're getting good at being a cowboy! :):):) Sometimes uneventful days are nice! Hope you slept good and have another day of safe traveling! I love you!

  11. Glad to see you made it safely home Doug. I could here your big sigh of relief way over here in Ontario when you pulled into your driveway. Might want to consider a few posts between now and next winter to keep your growing readers informed and up to speed as to how you and Yuma are doing. All the best to you and your family over the coming months and hope our trails cross again somewhere out there in that great American Southwest. All the best my friend..........
