Visit to Empire Ranch

Took Yuma out for his night walk last night and there were so many coyotes yipping he wouldn't do anything but try to come back in the White Lion.  Worked out okay because he didn't wake me up in the night wanting to go outside 😀

This morning we were moving around by 8:30.  Didn't get very chilly last night and calling for a high in the mid sixties today, so will be a nice day.  We had a leisurely breakfast and laid out in the lounge chairs enjoying the sun until around 1 o'clock.

Haven't been through the Empire Ranch house for a number of years , so we did a short tour of the place.  I was surprised to see a piano exactly like the one Dolly has in our house.😊

After our walk through and I'm sorry I didn't take more pictures, we took a hike through the bird sanctuary along Empire Creek behind the new house.  Age and fire has decimated much of the area unfortunately, but we still enjoyed it.  Yuma loves running the trails.

Fun to be young!

Lastly, we drove down Oak Canyon Road so I could show Nick some of the giant oaks along the road.  Luckily, no one was camping there so we drove right up into the trees.

First time four wheeling! 😍
Got home at 3 o'clock and now we're ready for a snack and a little rest before Monday Night Football!

Nick practicing to be a star!
Forgot to put anything out last night so hotdogs for sure tonight.  This time I pulled steaks and hamburgers out for the next two night.  I'll get a handle on this yet! 😀

Thanks for stopping by.

  2. Is that a telescope Nick carries on that shoulder strap? The case looks too long and narrow for a camera. Phil in Phoenix

    1. Interesting you ask. I hadn't noticed it. Asked Nick and he said right before coming on the trip he lost his billfold. He now carries it and change in the shoulder strap so he doesn't lose it again 😄

  3. I just love it there. Last time they said to keep an eye out for snakes IN the buildings. Apparently a rattler needed a nice cozy place to nap. If I could pick anywhere to live, I think that would be it.

  5. You and Nick saw a lot more than we did. We didn't go into the bird sanctuary. The day we went it was very very windy. I also saw the sign about rattlesnakes. Elva

    1. Yes, they warn you not to enter on windy days. Not the way I want to go 😁

  6. LOL I see Miss Dolly is giving up on teaching you to pull meat out of freezer. Try putting a sticky note on bathroom mirror and on fridge, and on your door!!! It is nice to see your grandson with you and enjoying himself. Perhaps you can teach him to drive White Lion this winter.

    1. Good to hear from you MCA. I'm getting forgetful faster than Dolly can remind me and Nick is no help 😄 I'll learn as I get into the daily swing of things. Great experience for Nick at 21.
