Finally! A do nothing day

Woke at my normal 8 and got up at 9 o'clock.  My ankle feels much better today.  Started cool with very little wind and sunny skies, but as the day went along the temperatures went to 67 degrees and laying out in the sun just felt great.

That's what we did all day till about 4 o'clock when we decided it was time to exercise our minds by playing a game of chess.

Nick learned a lot more about strategy today.  Had to remind him, I played this game way back in high school, so I have a big lead on him.  He loves the challenge and is determined to learn this game and that is great.

Had NY strip steak tonight with potatoes and French green beans.  Even if I have to say it to myself,  the cook did great! 😀

After dinner, I decided to check and see if I could tune in any local channels from Phoenix and was shocked to pick up 67 channels.   Must love their TV in this area.  Only problem is that I can't find anything worth watching.  Haven't watched local TV shows for so long, I can't get back into the groove.

The skies were clear tonight and the sunset was just a normal beautiful red.  Not a whisper of wind movement tonight. Going to watch a little more of NCIS: LA before calling it a day.

Thanks for stopping by.

    1. So many choices. I think I'll just listen to the wind.

  2. Looks like it was a good day to relax out in the sun. Plus your foot probably appreciated it! Nick is surely learning playing chess with you. I believe the new season of Survivor starts this Wednesday!

  3. I tried to learn chess one time ... my strategies never seemed to work cuz the other person never did what I thought they would do. Congrats to Nick for hanging in there. I have something like 120 channels and actually watch three. There's not much out there really worth watching.

    1. Amazing. I think I like it better when no local channels are available. Watched the news and it scared me.

  4. Doug, On Quest, channel 12-4 in Phoenix, you have Yukon Gold from 11-1 followed by Aussie Gold Hunters from 1-3, Phoenix time. Don't know if you have ever seen the Aussie Gold Hunters, but it is different from the Alaska/Canada way of finding gold.

  5. I'd agree there's not much on TV, but we do watch the news and sporting events. It's been a long time since I played chess and Fran does not have Nick's desire to learn the game. It's Cribbage for us

  6. Sounds like you all had a nice relaxing day. It will take Nick time to catch on to the intricacies of chess, I have a friend who played Bobby Fisher and got creamed, so hang in there Nick.😃 Enjoy the sunshine there!

  7. It's usually up to us what kind of day we have. Busy or lazy. Glad you chose a lazy one, we do that a lot. Costs too much to go anywhere anyway!

    1. I think my body is telling me to pick lazy days in the future. Time to stay busy off my feet.

    1. And tonight cheeseburgers. Yes, after not playing the game for many years he has me back into it. Three months together is teaching us both new activities.
