Easy Sunday and Happy Hour

Location:  BLM near Winterhaven, California

Even though I took a long nap yesterday afternoon, I still got a good night's sleep.  Woke up with the sun this morning.  It was very clear and the temperature was already comfortably in the 50s.
Sun coming up over the Pilot Knob Mountains.
I didn't get out of bed till around 8:30 and then fixed the coffee and took Yuma for his walk.
Imperial Sand Dunes to the West of us.
Yuma and Paxton
While on our walk we ran into our neighbor Don and his dog, Paxton.  Yuma and Paxton had a pretty good time, but Paxton didn't like rough housing.
White Lion in the background.

Pilot Knob Mountains.
After breakfast, Yuma and I rested for awhile.  For some reason I feel tired today.  Must have done too much yesterday.  Yuma found himself a new resting place in the Sun.
Yuma sunning himself on the dash.
We finally got the humph to go out to the Jeep and pull out the new rug and two Director chairs.  I must say the rug is a bright green.

At 3 o'clock, I left Yuma home to guard the house while I went to Happy Hour with my Canadian friends.
Left to right:  Bill, Kim, Patsy, Ken
We even talked politics tonight and no one shot anyone.  Canadians are very interested and knowledgeable in our political environment.  It was a beautiful afternoon and the time passed quickly.

Returned home around 5:30 to find this!
Yuma was a bad dog!
The trash was thrown everywhere.  I had thrown some round bones from my steak last night in the trash and Yuma could smell them and he tore everything up to get to them.  Luckily they weren't sharp bones so everything should be okay.  I'll have to be more careful in the future.  I didn't have the heart to scold him too much.

I had a big dinner tonight.  Steak, beans and a whole potato followed with a salad and pudding with whipped cream for desert.  I'm doing good.

Time for bed now.  See you later.

  1. Looks like Yuma had his own Happy Hour! At least he did not invite his friends over :)) The carpet is bright, but a nice size and welcoming. Let us know how the boondocking goes in thw W.L.

    1. You're right it's bright Jeff. But it will be fine. Yuma was a messy guy. Hope he found what he was looking for. It's nice out here but the Verizon connection is spotty at times, mainly at night.

    1. Yes. I didn't have the heart to give him a swat; just scolded him. He knew what he did was wrong. Got to be hot up on that dash with the sun beating in.

    1. I hope he wasn't being spiteful. I don't think so. He just smelled those steak bones and couldn't help himself. :))

  5. Yuma looks adorable in his new spot at the window. Love your new porch set up! Yuma certainly had a good time while you were gone LOL.. Sounds like a delicious dinner you had..good for you! It is interesting how much the Canadians know about our government. If only our own people took an interest.

  6. Those bones just smelled way too good Dad so it's not my fault. Really can't get mad at them. I like the green patio mat.

  7. Oh oh! Yuma was just doing what dogs do. Glad he didn't hurt himself on those bones. Suggestion if you have bones in the future. Put them in a plastic bag and drop them in that huge freezer until you can dispose of them. any food items actually. You have the room! :)
You have a wonderful spot out there. Maybe you could host Happy Hour today? We'll let you know what time we get back home.

  8. That Yuma is a good boy most of the time. He just couldn't resist them bones! Looks like it was great weather to have HH with some friends. I got to say I don't follow politics too much but I did watch the Democratic Debate last week and must say I found it much more entertaining that I though would!

  9. Beautiful photo of Yuma enjoying the sun. I wish I could have heard the political conversation. I'm interested in knowing what our neighbors think of USA politics. I actually follow a couple of Canadian political pages. Have a wonderful day!
