Sick day

Location:  Saddle Mountain BLM near Tonopah, Arizona

Last night I started having a scratchy throat and a cough.  Slept okay for my first night in the White Lion, but unfortunately, I woke up with the feeling I was coming down with a cold.  Never been sick before while on my trips to the southwest, so this is new to me.

Got up around 7:30 but felt very bad.  Have a terrific headache and achy feeling.   I sure hope it's just a cold and not something worse.  Riley felt bad yesterday and rested all day.  She says she feels better today.

Started my morning very slow.  Just felt like I didn't want to do anything.  That's what I did for most of the morning.  I had planned to go with Deb and Riley to look for another campsite in another area because of the enormous number of flies around Saddle Mountain.  There is evidently a chicken farm near by and they raise flies too. :))

I didn't feel well enough to go so stayed home to rest.  Later in the morning, I felt a little better and decided to tackle the gun safe I have bolted into Miss Adventure.  Got it unbolted, but it is too heavy for one person to move.  So when Deb and Riley returned later in the afternoon, we were able to get it out and placed in one of the White Lion's bays.

Deb and Riley didn't find any better places to move, so we're going to stick around over the weekend.  If I can get a few more things done, Miss Adventure will be ready on Monday to go to Phoenix.

Later in the day, I did one more thing that needed to be done before I put it up for sale.  I moved two batteries and an inverter over to the White Lion.  I use this setup to charge my small stuff, so I'm not using the house batteries.  Charging two batteries with my solar panels is easier and quicker than charging the four house batteries.

I have only two more small projects to complete before I do the final clean-up.  I've got the weekend to do that, so even though I feel terrible I got a lot done and Deb and Riley were a great help again.  I don't know what I would do if those two friends weren't nearby.

As evening approaches, I feel really under the weather.  I'm hoping I sleep well tonight and feel better in the morning.  I did manage to get Dish setup so I could watch Gold Rush tonight.  They actually had a new show on tonight.  :))

Barely caught the sunset again tonight.

See you later.

    1. You're right Dolly. I think I'm just plain wore out from all this. If it wasn't for them I don't know where I'd be.

  3. Sorry to read you are not feeling well. Hopefully after another good night's sleep you will be feeling a lot better.
Moving from one rig to another is a big job. I remember when Tom and I did it, and I had purged ahead of time plus spent time packing and organizing our stuff before the day of the move and it still was an extremely tiring day. From the pictures you have posted so far it really looks like a beautiful rig. Yuma looked pretty happy settled on that bed.
I am sure it has been very helpful to have Deb and Riley there for help and for moral support.
Really sorry to hear there is a fly problem at Saddle Mountain. It is a beautiful area. I know the year we stayed at the the RV park there the area was campaigning against the Chicken/egg production expansion for just that reason.

    1. Feeling a little better this morning. Think I'll run into Buckeye this morning and get some cold medicine and stuff at Walmart. I'm glad to have the moving over with. Deb and Riley have been a tremendous help. I haven't really been outside to see if the flies are bothersome but leaving the doors open while moving let lots of flies into both MHs. Too bad there isn't something that can be done to eradicate them.

  4. Feeling sick at home is bad enough but feeling sick while on the road is worse. I think during stressful times the bodies natural immune system is lessened making one vulnerable to illness.

    1. I agree. Overdoing and with this cold spell did it for me. Glad the warm days are back which will help me get over it quickly. I hate to waste days feeling poorly when out here. Too much to see and do.

  5. I hate being sick on the road, especially when I have stuff to do. Gargle with the old yellow colored listerine. Works for me every time. Take your time and rest up.

    1. Thanks Nancy. I feel better this morning so hopefully it passes quickly. The taking it easy is hard to do with so much that has to be done.

  6. You wore yourself out physically and mentally with your move (done that myself) and your body is telling you to slow down a bit. But I'm sure sorry you don't feel good. Hope today is much better for you.

  8. I'm sad to hear you aren't feeling well but it must be the excitement and stress you've experienced. You haven't stopped for days so it's bound to catch up with you. Transferring from one rv to another is a big job. You'll feel better soon, I'm sure! Get some rest!

    1. Thanks Patsy. You're right about overdoing it. I'm not as spry as I once was but forget that sometimes. This cold snap we had sure didn't help. I'm feeling better this morning and will take it easy now that the hard part is over.

  9. I agree with Patsy, thinking all of it combined wore you down. Glad to see you are feeling better this morning. Get some rest and enjoy the day. I know there's still lots to be done, but sure Deb and Riley will continue to help you out. Beautiful sunset!

    1. Thanks Shirley. The hard part is over and the cold days are behind us so with a little rest I should be good as new. Deb and Riley have been wonderful. Some of the moving couldn't be done by myself.

  10. Hope your feeling better soon. If you are looking for another spot to move to that would be close to Buckeye and is BlM, there is Aqua Caliente Rd. Take Salome Rd southeast till it meets the old US 80, then South on the 80 and Aqua Caliente is on the right. I don't think the flies have migrated there yet. South on the old 80 past Aqua Caliente Rd is the Gillespie Dam and quite the nice old bridge.

    1. Thank you so much Peter. I'm swatting flies as I eat my crackers and type my comments. I've got to get out of this place before the flies drive me nuts. Don't need this right now. I'll take a drive over there today.
