It was about 10 o'clock last night and I had just finished my dessert when Nick came home from Slab City. He said he had a good time but not at The Range. It is only open on Saturday night, so he went down to another honkytonk named Red Rum. There was a mix of visitors and locals and all had a good time.
It was another very warm night and as soon as the sun appeared another hot day was upon us. I made the decision to head 4 miles into Niland on the Salton Sea and find a shady place to have breakfast.
We are heading very close to Arizona today, I changed our clocks ahead one hour to Mountain Time, so that will be the time use now.
We were there in no time and found a shady place at the old Mall, but even before I could open the door I knew the slight breeze was from the west over the Salton Sea. In other words, Niland stunk.
We ended up hooking up the Jeep and drove the 20 miles to Brawley and had breakfast in the Walmart parking lot. We had lots of food to get for the next week or so, so after breakfast we did our shopping.
Around 2 o'clock, we headed east on I-8 to the sand dunes where we picked up water and threw away the garbage we had been collecting for a week or so. Not easy to find trash receptacles out here for us RVers.
It was about 4:30 when we rolled onto Ogilby Road and right back to where we were parked several weeks ago 😀. And Tom and Deb were in their parking space too. Shane and Cathy were visiting, so we are all back once again. When we all left, it was decided to meet back here for the Super Bowl and we all kept our word 😇.

As much as many of the desert towns rely on the snowbirds there are few places for them to dump trash.
ReplyDeleteSuper Bowl - Go Cinci!
Hey, it's good to be hooked up with friends. I'm sure you will enjoy Super Bowl Sunday. It's good thatyou were able to ger rid of your garbage. Enjoy tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteNext time take a run into the State (?) Park at Salton Sea. It's very interesting that all the sand you see is not sand at all. It's fish bones. Craziest thing I've ever seen. We spent a couple of nights there, and yes, it does have a lovely "scent".
ReplyDeleteNice to be near friends and get together for the big game.
ReplyDeleteBe Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
Glad Nick had a good time at the Red Rum! Enjoy the Super Bowl with friends! Hope it's an entertaining game! And commercials!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had some good times and now you are back to Ogilby for more good times. Are Shane and Cathy the couple with the nice tent? Elva
