Friday, March 16, 2018 – St. Patrick’s Day-Location: Las Cienegas NCA near Sonoita, Arizona
Today promises to be a good one. Started out a little chilly, so turned the Wave on for a spell. Then Yuma and I went for our morning walk around 7:30.
Sunrise over the Whetstones.
Fixed a big breakfast and then we sat down to wait for the horse show to begin. Just at 10 o’clock, we started to see them coming down Oak Tree Canyon Road. Took some pictures as they left and then Yuma and I sat down in the lounge chair and waited for them to swing around and eventually, they came right by our RV.
Not much to say. If you like horses then saddle up and enjoy the pictures.
That’s all for the day. Many, many pictures, but got to stop somewhere. Had a great time talking with the riders and getting their pictures. Hope you like them.
Time for dinner and Gold Rush followed by White Water Gold.
See you later.
What a gorgeous sunrise, with the trees in the foreground. Can't say enough about the horses and riders pictures! Just awesome! What beautiful animals! Enjoyed every single picture. Have a good night. ❤
ReplyDeleteThank Dolly. Lots of riders and their horses. Many beautiful animals. Glad you liked them. I enjoy looking at them on my blog too🤗.
DeleteWhat a fun day,and you had front row seats. A nice variety of horses.I noticed some different horse shoes. Thanks for the pictures Doug
ReplyDeleteThanks Rawn. Great relaxing day. Didn't have to go anywhere.
DeleteBeautiful sunrise. What luck to be there the second year in a row. Beautiful horses and you took some great pictures.
ReplyDeleteReading your last few posts I can really see why you like it there, wonderful spot.
Thanks Deborah. It is a nice place and the horse competition makes it better. The grasslands is a nice diversion from the desert.
DeleteThis weekend is the American Endurance Horse competition near you, I believe one of your pictures is of our daughter in law. Small world. . .
ReplyDeleteIt is a small world. Nice to know the name of the event. Enjoyable to watch the horses prance by. And the riders enjoy this beautiful grassland to ride in.
DeleteIt feels like I am watching a movie ! Glad you included a shot from across trail to show just how close they pass at your camp. The breeze makes their tails so extra pretty. Looks like today will be perfect again. Yea ! 😀🐴🌞
ReplyDeleteThanks Moonfly. Love to watch as the horses prance by. They seem to enjoy the wide open range. Today looks to be even nicer than yesterday. More Sun.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteEight more years and I'll be full-timing, too. Can't wait!
That's great. I didn't get started for six years after I retired. Slow start. Hope it works out for you.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots of the horses! it is AZ after all, since it is St Pats day did you notice the number of Mc* street names near near Tortilla Junction? We did see a small herd of 'wild' horses near the Salt River on an outing. Sorry your Cubs lost the 2 games I saw, but at least those don't count!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeff. The Cubs have probably had their 100 year season so may be back to the old times.
DeleteLots of horses competing here. I'm enjoying watching them pass by the rig each afternoon. Great place to be.
Wow, some beautiful pictures and amazing views. There are some very nice looking horses in those pictures. You were certainly in the right spot. I wonder if any of them where also some that we may have seen at Superstition Mountain?
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a place we'd enjoy setting up camp for a few days, great views Doug.
Enjoy.
Thanks, Deb. I'm sure you both would love it here. Be sure to come at this time of year and catch the horse competition.
