On our walk along the road this morning, I happened to look over the embankment again, but this time instead of spying a commode chair, I thought I could see a rusty relic of some kind. It’s hidden just beneath that tree.
Yuma and I found a place to walk down and then I could see it was an old rusted truck.
No idea what make, model or year. Probably been here awhile.
After breakfast, Yuma and I decided we would not go far from camp today. I wondered where the off-road vehicles went the other day, so we decided to find out for ourselves. Remember, they went over the brown hills to the east of our camp on the Yuma Proving Ground side of the canal.
We had to drive five miles north on the west side of the canal and then drive about 50 feet over a bridge and five miles back to our camp, but on the other side of the canal.
Unfortunately, my Jeep could not go where they were able to go. The Jeep sits too high as we quickly found out.
The grade on these first hills was getting too much for me to feel comfortable handling. So we parked the Jeep and walked.
Yuma just loved running up and down the hills.
Every once in awhile, he would have to wait for me. I couldn’t run as fast as him.
The views from way up there were beautiful. In a rustic way. Not much vegetation.
There’s the MH down there in this zoom shot.
We had to come back down the one big hill I was able to climb. It was scary enough for me, but the grade wasn’t as steep as the others higher up.
We just laid around camp for the remainder of the afternoon.
See you later.
I can see why people go up there. It's a beautiful view. Probably a good idea to not try for the top. It looked very steep.
ReplyDeleteLittle too steep for me. Wouldn't want the Jeep to topple over backwards.
DeleteNice that Yuma got some good running in and the views from up there are wonderful
ReplyDeleteThought Yuma was going to fall over himself running down those hills.
DeleteYou don't find many rusted cars in this dry climate.
ReplyDeleteI guess they slowly rust with each rain. Little wind over in Yuma today, but not bad here at the lake with the trees and brush all around.
DeleteYuma running on the trail reminds me a little of a greyhound dog - Nice photos of the view from the top of those brown hills too. Very scenic !
ReplyDeleteThanks Moonfly. He did love running like the wind. Kind of like the moon up there. Not much but rocks all around.
