Today is move day. Woke up at 7 but laid in bed till 9 o'clock. We had a quick breakfast, packed and we were on our way at 11:15.
Not a long drive today. About 90 miles through Phoenix to just the other side of Apache Junction very near the Superstitious Mountains.
My plans were to dump and take on water when we neared Apache Junction, but when we arrived around 1:45 I couldn't find an RV park in town so ended up at the BLM land with things not taken care of.
Probably just as well. When I drove up the road into the BLM, the road was absolutely atrocious. Just as bad as I remembered and worse if possible. I only drove maybe 200 yards off the pavement and I pulled over to the very first available area.
It is not flat and we are right next to an electric generating station that has a constant loud buzz! 😩 We drove around to survey the area but found nothing that we could get to that was any better. Feeling pretty low at this point, so decided at 4 o'clock to just go stay put and look for a Walmart and do some shopping.
At least that went well. There is one in Apache Junction, so if all goes bad we can spend a night there. 😁 By the time we got home it was near 5:30 and time to fix dinner. We were starved so I cooked up grilled breast chicken slices, potatoes and corn. Sound familiar.
There are a few things we would like to do and see in this area, so will look again tomorrow for a better place to stay.
The one good thing about our location is the location!
We are located just across the valley from Superstitious Mountains. A million dollar view.Only 8 o'clock and this post is done. I think Nick and I have time for a quick game of chess before dessert and bed.
Thanks for stopping by.
Beautiful pictures! I hope you can find a better location, even if the view isn't as good. Enjoy your game! It's good that Yuma's there to settle any disputes.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dolly. We are going to drive around in search of a flater area. The BLM roads around here are horrible.
DeleteGreat view of the mountains! Your in a great spot for a [pre-season Cubs game ... Oops there's no cactus league ...
ReplyDeleteI hope Dolly doesn't see your Cubs slight. She's the big Cub fan. I like them to keep peace in the family 😁
DeleteSo cool how the sun changes the colors of the mountain. Hope you find a good spot to stay for a bit. Enjoy that sun!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve. Can't beat the view for free but those roads are horrible
DeleteThat's definitely beautiful country. Hope you find a nice place to stay.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy. This area is being taken over by transients so not many fairly flat sites available.
DeleteThere are plenty of sites available in Casa Grande. Make sure you take Nick to the Dwarf Car Museum.
ReplyDeleteOnly 20 minutes away. It's an option. Thank you.
DeleteHey Doug can you give me the coordinates for that location. we always spend time in AJ at Lost Dutchman state park, but would like an alternative place to boondock! Thanks, Doug H
ReplyDeleteAs you leave AJ there is a concrete designed sign on the left saying Apache Junction. The road immediately after that sign on the left goes into the BLM. Also all along the the left side of AJ trail road after leaving AJ there are dirt roads into the BLM. All right before getting to Goldridge amusement park.
DeleteThanks Doug, I found it on google maps. I will check it out next time I am down there
DeleteWell, if you need tanks dumped there is a gas station (Chevron) that you can dump at, and if you need those tanks cleaned afterwards... let me know because we are at the Single Butte/Southern area. There is a Walmart at Single Butte and the 60 that has ALOT of great places to shop/eat.
ReplyDeleteThanks MCA.
DeleteYou do have a beautiful location so I hope you can find a better spot to camp.
ReplyDeleteLooked everywhere and there is nothing. Time to move on.
DeleteThere is a state park up here in Washington, Brooks Memorial, I've stayed a night or two as a last resort..
ReplyDeleteThe main high tension wires pass over the campsites. The constant popping and sizzling drives me nutz..It's a pretty place and up off the highway, but oh that buzzing! I can always get a spot. Wonder why?.....
Luckily at my age the buzzing just blends in with the tinnitus 😀 But it teally bugs poor Nick. Just wasn't a good place to stay with that and the slanting terrain.
