On to Ajo, Arizona

After a few tries, we finally made it out of Yuma 😀.  Over the winter we spent a lot of time here.  I must say this is the worst winter I've had with the Santa Ana winds.

In fact, last night they started up again and went most of the night but died down.  However, just before dawn they started up again and went on till almost the time we left at 11 o'clock this morning.

We said our goodbyes to Tom and Deb who are also heading into an RV park in Yuma for awhile.

Then we went to the sand dunes to pick-up water and then into the service station at Pilot Knob to dump tanks and then one last stop in Yuma for fuel and we were finally really on our way at 1 o'clock heading east on I-8.

Yuma, dead ahead!
I must say, after going over the Fortuna Foothills just east of Yuma there is nothing but flat desert for miles and miles.  Not even a small curve in the highway.

It's a three hour drive to Ajo and most of it is east on I-8 to Gila Bend and then a right on highway 85 for 40 miles south.

It was 4 o'clock when we arrived at our location on Darby Well Road.  Same exact place I was last year.  😁  We unhooked the Jeep and drove around a bit, but didn't find a site better than we had so this is our new home for the next week or two.

Black Mountain in the background.

While we were driving through the desert on this warm and sunny day, back home, Dolly is in the midst of a snowstorm dumping more than a half foot of snow on their already snowy ground.

Poor birds 😩

We're ready to settle in for the night.  Thank you for stopping by.

  4. Glad you finally made it to Ajo. Looks like it will be a great place to stay for a couple weeks. I bet we ended up with about 10" of snow yesterday!🥶 Luckily it's going to be warm Sunday and maybe 50s on Monday. Enjoy the warmth!

  5. I hope it's warmer with less wind. Weird weather this year. I'm curious just where you can park. One of these days I'll have to check out that area.

  6. I love those last 2 pictures. Jerry is going to the Yuma area next week to take care of some business. I keep checking the weather and it looks like windy weather again next week. I hope your area escapes it. Elva
