Emergency cellphone run

This morning, I was awake at 6:30 with the sun rising over the Salton Sea.

Couldn't stay awake though and laid back down and the next thing I knew it was 8 o'clock and Yuma was ready to head outside.  It is warm and not a cloud in the sky so we sat outside to give Nick a little more time to sleep before Yuma jumps on him to wake him up.

We had a nice breakfast outside.  All our neighbors have left and we're alone on our ridge.  This bus of hippies was the last to leave this morning.  I missed the opportunity to get a picture of two young ladies dancing on top of it just before they left.

Nick has been fighting his cellphone for awhile now trying to charge it.  He somehow messed up the inner plug on the phone and it is very hard to find the right plug angle to get it to charge and then it charges very slowly.

He decided to call a repair shop in Indio this morning and they suggested he bring it in to see what they could do.  At noon, Nick headed the 40 miles in hopes of getting it fixed.

Unfortunately, they couldn't help him and he returned around 3 o'clock.  But, he does have an older phone he could use if this one completely fails to charge.  He's going to wait till he gets home and take it back to the shop he bought it from and have them check it out.

I used the time he was gone to rest up for our future adventures and clean-up around the house.  When he returned, we enjoyed the calm late afternoon in the sun and keeping Yuma happy.  Life is rough out here in the desert 😁
We had an early dinner of cheeseburgers and chips after the sunset over Borrego Springs and then watched the Olympics. Now time to finish this post, have dessert and get ready for bed.
Thanks for stopping by.

  1. I'm sorry about Nick's phone not getting fixed. That's what happens when you're away from civilization. Glad you had a chance to rest up today. Great picture of the boys in the waing sunlight. Pretty sunrise and sunset.

  3. He's not alone ... I have the same problem with my iPhone. A replacement is now $1,000, so I'm babying it as long as I can!!

  4. That's a bummer about Nick's phone. I know that's been annoying him for a while. At least it looks like you guys had a nice relaxing afternoon.

  5. Not sure what phone Nick has, but they make these Universal Battery Chargers where you take the battery out of the phone and charge it and put it back. (see https://tinyurl.com/5n8jd5kx for a particular Samsung Galaxy) I had the same problem and got one for my flip phone I was using back then along with a second battery. When my battery needed recharging I would swap the battery in the charger with the one in phone and was only without cell phone for a few minutes. For under $20 I was in business until I bought a new phone once we got home. (I am sure there is an Amazon locker you can have it sent to in a town near you)
