Slot Canyon

Last night Yuma heard something outside and when I peeked out there was a cute little Kit fox.  I grabbed a bowl of Yuma's hard food and placed it there and it just loved it.  Ate it all.

This morning Yuma had me up and outside around 6:30.  Came right back in and went back to sleep till around 9 o'clock.  Dolly had sent some pictures of the snow storm aftermath.

Twin dagger ice cycles πŸ˜€

Worked on a little rewiring of the fridge to make it nicer and I think I'm done.  All systems seem to be go 😁  After breakfast we rested outside.  Nick put up a hammock and laid in that for awhile.

I had been wanting to talk to Dish about how I could set up local channels so yesterday I called and got the most informative and helpful young lady to answer my questions.  She said I could remove my receiver and have a new account set up just with my Dish and receiver for about $55 a month and cancel at any time.  Told her I would think about it.

I then asked about replacing all the old Dish equipment I have at home and she said with the promotion going on I could do that for "free".  Meaning I'm on a two year contract with them.  I've had Dish since 2006 so not going anywhere so I said let's do it.

Greg, the Dish man came by this afternoon and installed everything.  Now I have three new TV boxes and a Hopper to record anything I want πŸ˜ƒ.

At 2 o'clock we all jumped in the Jeep and headed for a slot canyon about two miles west of here.  I've walked it several times but knew Nick would love it.

Entrance under the fallen column.

More happy Yuma.  He ran the whole time.  Tired tonight I bet.

We're tired but made it back.
We did a little more exploring that was fascinating, but will have to cover that in tomorrow night's blog.

Gold Rush was a rerun and the Olympic opening was just too boring, so no TV tonight.😩  Had hotdogs for dinner and called it a night.

Thanks for stopping by.

  2. That's a great hike. Love how the water has made the canyon!! Nice pictures of Nick too!! It's good to have the local channels ... beats going to a bar to watch the games you want to see. Remember though, unless you buy the specific package, you won't see all the games. Those that I miss, I watch on my phone. Glad your fridge is liking the setup!!

    1. Thanks Nancy. A lot of trial and error on the fridge but think I've got it now. I'm thinking I will pass on the Dish locals. Should have done it a number of years back. πŸ™

  3. I looked up the kit fox last time you had one visiting your camp, they are some cute little guys. Very cool rock formations and how narrow the canyons are! I'm sure you guys were all tired by the time you got back home!

    1. The foxes are tiny. Only about 5 pounds and mostly tail and fur. The hike wore us all out. Yuma ran everywhere.

  4. The slot canyon is gorgeous! If you ever get over to eastern Nevada there is a place called Cathedral Gorge State Park I think you and Nick would love that place! We've been several times, like a mini Bryce Canyon with slot canyons and hoodoos. Love the kit fox..so cute!

  7. I'm not afraid of heights but I am a little claustrophobic. I was getting a little panicked just looking at the pictures. But everything is beautiful. Elva

  8. There are a couple more gold-jade shows on, that may interest you....Some brothers in Montana."American Gold", I think it's on the weather channel..Jade city a family up in Alaska looking for..."Jade"...And another called Frozen gold..Some guy hires some dopes to go with him to Greenland or Iceland and prospect for gold..Then they decide even tho he's paying the ride, they can do better...If you have fast forward they are about the same as Gold Rush and their B/S new shows that are just reruns..
They are entertaining, in a way.....(:+)...............
