More Guests stop by!

This morning, Yuma had me out of bed at 8 o'clock and out the door.  It is going to be a warm, sunny day with wind out of the north.  It is going to be a lazy morning and a busy afternoon.

Yuma and I took advantage of the warm sun by laying outside and soaking it up.  I'm trying to forget last night's battery problems.

When the sun went down around six last night, I moved the refrigerator from the four AGM batteries to the lithium battery I had charged during the day.  It wasn't a half hour before the inverter started squealing as if my battery was dead.

It couldn't be dead, I had charged it to full during the day and the charger said it was full.  My first thought was the inverter was bad.  I put a volt meter on the battery, and guess what, sure enough the battery was very low.  Now, I have four dead AGM house batteries and one dead lithium battery and no sun!

So, I had to turn the generator on to charge everything.  It was 11:30 by the time the batteries were charged enough to run my electric fridge and maybe make it through the night.  Off to sleep land we went and then at 4:30 I heard the squeal again.

Got up switched the fridge to the house batteries, hoping somehow they would last for about three hours until the sun's rays could start charging all my batteries.  Luckily, they did and everything in my fridge made it.

This morning, after calling my solar expert son, Jim, we figured out the lithium battery charger was not working properly, so I put another charger on the battery today and hopefully, I sleep well tonight.

This afternoon around 2 o'clock, Jerry and Elva showed up in a cloud of dust from the winds to join us for the afternoon.  Not long after, Ken and Shirley, showed up in their travel trailer, The Mansion.

Yuma, my chair, Elva, Jerry, Shirley, Ken, Tom, Deb, Riley and Deb

The four of them had spent yesterday at the Howling at the Moon charity event in Fortuna Hills, just on the outskirts of Yuma.  As you can guess, it was an alcohol allowed all day and night event.  The moon made its appearance over the mountains right on time on a clear and fairly warm night.

We started our Happy Hour immediately and had a great afternoon telling stories, some true and maybe some not so true.  By 5:30, the sun was setting and time to call it a day.  Jerry and Elva headed for home across the valley and Ken and Shirley are spending the night here in their Mansion.

Elva brought me a beautiful quilt bedspread that my good friend Nancy Kissack had made for me.  I had been bugging her for one and surprisingly she actually did.  Thank you so much, Nancy.  I love it.

It was a great day, seeing friends again.  The nice thing about boondocking is that you just never know who will be in the area and take the opportunity to drop by for a visit.   It was another fun day in the windy desert!

Here is a list of blogs:

Thanks for stopping by.

  3. I've been told you have to have a different kind of inverter/charger for lithium batteries. Maybe call the guys at Discount Solar?
Your quilt isn't exactly green, but it's Arizona green with an Arizona pattern, just like you ordered. I'm glad you like it!!! Now Yuma will be warm!!! LOL
