Visit with another fellow blogger

Up at 7 this morning and the wind was already picking up a little.  Calling for strong winds this afternoon and all night.  Today is shopping day.  But, I decided to just do my shopping at the Roadrunner Market in Quartzsite instead of traveling the 40 miles to the Walmart in Parker.

The first thing I did this morning, was to shave off my beard.  Took 2 1/2 years to grow it and only 15 minutes to shave it off.  I left the hair.  I'll make a decision on that another day.  I think my beard days are over.

Yuma and I went into Quartzsite and picked up $100 of groceries and we were back before noon.  Everyone had things to do this morning, so not much of a coffee hour.

I checked my email this morning, and had a text from Gaelyn, saying that she had moved from Yuma up to King Road, about 20 miles south of me on highway 95.

Knowing, this might be the last half way decent weather day for this week, Yuma and I drove down for a short visit.  The drive goes along some of the most beautiful mountains in the Kofa Mountain range.

View from Gaelyn's truck camper

She was home, but the wind was already stronger in the open area where she is parked.
We placed our chairs on the north side of her truck because the wind was blowing out of the south.
We had a great time, until the chill in the air ended our visit.  Gaelyn is a longtime boondocker and a fantastic photographer, so be sure to visit her website,
GeogypsyShe is in this area to catch photographs of the full moon rising over the Kofa Mountains early in March.

We made it home around 4:30 and Tom and Deb, Celebrating the Dance and Deb and Riley, On a long and lonesome highway.... were sitting on the east side of Deb and Riley's 5th wheel trying to stay out of the wind while enjoying HH.  I joined them, but it wasn't long before the force of the wind and the coolness of the air drove us all inside.  I think I will brave the winds long enough to grill a steak for tonight.

Thanks for stopping by.

  1. My, you're unrecognizable without your beard. Nice photos on your way to see Gaelyn. Maybe tomorrow will be a day of less wind.

    1. Me either. They call for strong winds all night and all day tomorrow. The WL is rocking tonight. Glad Yuma has gotten used to the wind sounds and isn't afraid anymore.

  4. Unrecognizable! Who is this man masquerading as Doug? Lol. A decent day until later in the afternoon. Hopefully we can get some rest when the wind dies down.

  7. Wow! Look different without the beard. The second picture up there looks very similar to the one we blew up for you with the hot air balloon. Must be close to that same spot?
