Sunrise over Pilot Knob |
We took a fairly long walk and then laid around and enjoyed the great sunny warm morning. I was trying to set up my cell phone to receive the game this evening on Amazon Prime, but was having difficulty getting it to work. Dolly called and got me set up and we had a nice long conversation covering what has been happening in our separate worlds. It was great to hear her voice.
My brother, Richard called the other day to tell me his son, Jonathon had a healthy young son. His name is Helios Rodolfo Laning. He has two daughters and now a son. Congratulations to Jonathon and Nathalie!
It was close to 2:30 before Yuma and I headed the 9 miles west to the Imperial Sand Dunes. I-8 runs through the south end of them, so it's a nice easy drive.
The first place we stopped was Plank Road .
Yuma inspecting the recreation example of how it originally looked. |
What it really looks like now. |
Oops! Some one slipped off the road! Just kidding. Saw this car at an abandoned house on the way to the dunes. |
This gives you an idea of how large these dunes are. |
Thanks for stopping by.
Doug, have you given up on your 12 Ritz crackers every morning with your coffee? I take my meds every morning just before coffee, and have a cracker with the meds to keep my stomach calm. I have between 6 and 8 as a rule. Phil = Phoenix
ReplyDeleteI hate to admit I'm getting old but I forgot that i enjoyed Ritz with cheese. I remembered I always bought big blocks of cheese but didn't remember why. Next time at store I'll buy some. Thanks for the reminder.
DeleteSounds like a great easy day, Doug. Love your last picture. Your last paragraph had me puzzling. Bills and Pats play here too! Haha!
ReplyDeleteThanks Patsy. Love the name coincidence. They make money playing, but you two enjoy playing for free :)
DeleteWe never did get to see that plank road area simply because I don't think we ever knew it was there. It's always fascinating to see those Imperial Sand Dunes and how the California winds twist and shape them. .
ReplyDeleteThe dunes are pretty. I would love driving in them with the proper vehicle. I bet it's even more beautiful back in there.
DeleteGreat pics of the dunes, and the sunset too.
ReplyDeleteSounds like your kind of relaxing day.
It’s always nice to hear voices from home, very comforting.
Deb
Thank you, Deb. It was nice that we had a nice long conversation about everything.
DeleteGreat pictures of the dunes! Looks like your having some nice days to enjoy! The game was, a bit of a snoozer last night.😄
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve. Yes it was. Glad I got my post done while semi watching.
DeleteI sure would have loved to drive that plank road!!
ReplyDeleteIt would have been something, but I wouldn't want to live back then and miss out on this generation. We did have our Route 66 though.
DeleteMy grandparents drove the plank road. Then we drove on the 2 lane highway 80. I hated when we drove on the mountains just before Jacumba. The trucks would be crawling up the hill and my dad would pass them. Always scary! The "Bill's and the Pats" were playing. Loved Patsy's comment.
ReplyDeleteThat is one beautiful baby! Bet those big sisters can't wait to get their hands on the little darling! Sand dunes are so much fun to ride! Haven't been there but to a couple of others!
ReplyDeleteMany congratulations to Jonathan and Nathalie on a beautiful, healthy boy! Beautiful pictures of the sand dunes. I fingers them fascinating. They're constantly changing. I wonder if there are any trap door spiders around there. Glad you're having such good weather.
