Great day in Los Algodones, Mexico

 This morning, I was excited to be going to Mexico for the first time.  Deb and Riley’s friends, Rick and Willie live in the same town in Canada as them and they were looking forward to seeing them.

Rick and Willie have been to Los Algodones many times over the years, so they were our guides for our first trip to the town.  I managed to get up in time to be ready for our 8:30 leave time to meet them at the gate at 9 o’clock.

It’s easy to get into Mexico, but you do need prove who you are to come back.  I have never had a passport, so I’m hoping Mr. Google is right that a birth certificate is good enough.  I hope they don’t try to compare that baby foot on the certificate to my mangled foot now.  I’ll never get back!

Not going to say much in words about the little Mexican town, but there were vendors everywhere selling their goods and every other storefront was a Optometrist, Pharmacy or Dental service. 

I made a mistake right off and took a picture as I entered the gate and that is a No, No!.  This Mexican patrolman came from across the street and tried to tell me in Spanish that I can’t take pictures at the entrance.   We finally worked it out and I got the gist that he wanted me to delete the picture before I could proceed.  

Into Mexico we go!

The first place we headed is to the optometrist that Willie bought her glasses from.  She said they were great and that was enough for me.

Willie only needed an adjustment to her frames and then I was at the counter telling this lady about the problems I was having with my eyesight.   She got on the phone and before I could sit down, this Optometrist came from somewhere outside and started testing my eyes.   I think he has more than one office.

At first, he could not improve my eye sight, but he fairly quickly analyzed why I was seeing double vision and we quickly went back to the lady at the counter to get frames and seal the money deal.  $280 for everything.  At home, it would be that much just for frames.  The whole session was less than an hour.

Not positive my eyes are perfect.  I will have to drive with them, but I'm hopeful that I will see better with double vision at distance.

Then we were off to the dental appointment that Rick had scheduled for 10 o'clock.  There are many pictures, so I'm going to break this down over several days.  I must say, I had a great time with my four Canadian friends.  The day was a blast!  So much better to visit Mexico with friends.
