Hiking in to the Peralta Canyon - 2

Surprisingly, I slept well last night and I thought my body was refreshed until I tried getting out of bed.  It was then I knew this would not be an action packed day.  It was quite warm already and Yuma and I were outside for breakfast.

Good day to continue my saga with State Farm.  I logged onto the link provided to me yesterday and  for the life of me could not figure out what I should do.  After two or three efforts, I finally got the documents uploaded, I thought.  It was not long before I received a call from a claims person.  Finally, some action.  He said one of the payment documents came through, but not the other, so we worked on trying to get that done.

The document I had would not display on his computer, so I finally called the towing company and had them send the document again and this time it worked.

After a few more calls asking me questions, he had enough to make his decision.  Not good.  Long story short, they will pay the first tow for $567.88 but not the second tow for $2839.38.  The reason was that he called out to Quartzsite to a garage that handles diesel repairs and they said they could work on it.  Neither of us is a diesel mechanic, so that's the end of that discussion.  Not the decision I wanted, but I accept it.  I'm just glad it's over at this point.  At least I'm where I want to be, cost be damned!

Following are pictures of my journey down the canyon.  Just beautiful.  Thank goodness, I took the Tylenol, or I would have not made it.  I made it down in two hours with only two falls, neither did nothing but give me a few more scrapes.  I covered a total of five miles walking up and down taking almost 18,000 steps.  A record I hope I never repeat.

As tired as I am, this looks daunting!

Yuma would run down the trail a bit, but if I was out of sight very long, he would always come back to check on me.

Very old saguaro.

Yuma never lacked for water to drink.

Hopefully, you get an idea of the beauty of this canyon.  Maybe, this will inspire another person to hike this trail and see the beauty.

On my way home, I stopped to take pictures of the setting sun.

Unfortunately, there were clouds to the east and I did not get a picture of the full moon.  Hopefully, tonight.  My cellphone does not do justice to sunsets of moon rises.
Tonight's moon rise.
Thanks for stopping by.

  1. What a beautiful canyon hike. Really gorgeous pictures. Well worth all those steps. I doubt if Yuma got scraped up coming back down the trail. What happened to your buddy, Marcus? Thank you for the great photos.

    1. Thank you, Dolly. It was worth the pain, but not sure I could do it again. Marcus and the family, were going to stick around for pictures of the moon. I couldn't risk trying to come down in the dark, so I left early. That way if I had a problem, I knew they would be coming down and could help me. I hope they made it okay. I gave them the name of my blog so maybe Jim will leave a comment.

  4. More great pictures! Good to get your claims taken care of, even though not the results you wanted. Might need a couple days to recover after all them steps!

    1. Thanks, Elva. It would have been difficult, but there was a full moon. If I hadn't been so weak and tired it would have been fun.

  8. I personally would have challenged that insurance thing. First and foremost, the shop they called can "claim" they can work on anything, and many will do just that in hopes they can get future work from that insurance company. Working at a shop in the past taught me that trick!

  13. Say goodbye State Farm no more $$$ to you and not good publicity for them. PEMCO dropped my neighbors, me and many others in Washington after paying them for 50 years and no claims..Fire danger they said..
