A few Ajo Murals

Location:  Darby Well Road near Ajo, Arizona

Another good night's sleep.  The weather is just perfect with lows around 48 degrees.  No chill in the air which is good.  Got up around 8 o'clock and slowly made breakfast and took Yuma for his morning walk.
Yuma out on Darby Well Road.
For some reason he balks at going outdoors.   I notice there are little bugs flying around and that may be what's bothering him.   Oh well, it's his problem.  Another perfect morning for having breakfast outside.

Around 12:30 Yuma and I headed into town to check out Olsens to see if there is any new items and to get five gallons of water.  Fresh out of water for my drinking jug.  Before hitting town I had to take a few pictures.
See the "A" on Ajo Mountain overlooking the town?

There are hundreds of murals in Ajo but I'm only going to show a few at a time.  You can do a search on Ajo or murals to see many more from my past visits.

Note:  Be sure to click on the pictures to enlarge and see the full details of the murals.  Some of them are very intricate.

Interesting the location of the trash cans.  Are they telling us something?

Front of the Ajo Copper News building.  Be sure to enlarge and look at this one closely.
We then stopped at the grass courtyard at the Ajo Mall.  The center is a grass park similar to Christmas Circle in Borrego Springs.  Yuma loves the grass.  The mall has stores on the north and south and the old train station to the east.
That little doggie wanted to get at Yuma so bad!  She acted so ferocious.
Looking west across hwy 85 towards Ajo Mountain.
Memorial on the west side of the lawn.

Old remodeled train station to the east.

Memorial facing highway 85 to the west.

Train station behind the Jeep.
Time now to watch Walking Dead and fix dinner.  Been another nice relaxing day. :))

See you later.

  1. I'd forgotten how picturesque Ano is. Enjoyed seeing all the murals and sights in town. Did Yuma get to meet that snappy little girl? He should be used to it, after living with Fergie. 😀 Glad Olsen's is still open.Im glad the weather is finally staying nice.

  4. I think Ajo has one of the prettiest downtown squares we've seen in the Southwest. For we Northerners grass is always a huge bonus to find. Love the palm trees as well. Very much like Borrego Springs. All those murals are so colorful and always a pleasure to see. The last day we were in Ajo a new coffee shop was having it's opening day. I wonder if they are still there. It was right next to the second hand store type place.

    1. Yuma loves the grass. Not much has changed from two years ago. I'll check the coffee shop out.

  5. Those murals are just fabulous!! Maybe Yuma has a sixth sense. It's spring time, is he smelling snakes? Coyotes coming around at night? My Jessie doesn't like bugs either since one stung her on the mouth.

  6. Those murals in Ajo are amazing. I'm so sad our stop in that area didn't work out. Hopefully one day we will get to enjoy the beauty of the area. Those two little girls were so cute. Have a great day! Elva Shannon

  7. Thanks Elva. Those two cute girls were funny. So worried about their little dog and her barking at Yuma. Mom was watching with a careful eye.
