Ajo Mountains in Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, Arizona

Location:  Darby Well Road near Ajo, Arizona

This morning I didn't wake up till Yuma barked at me to get up.  It was 8 o'clock and he wanted his walk and breakfast.  I had hiked way too much yesterday and my legs and feet are killing me today.  I soaked them last night, but will need more this morning if I'm going to get around.

It is a beautiful morning, already 61 degrees and will get to 75 this afternoon.  There isn't a cloud in the sky.  So, today Yuma and I are going to take it easy and rest.  Maybe go for a few walks close by.

I left off yesterday just as we entered the road heading into the Ajo Mountains.  Not much to talk about.  I'll just let you enjoy the views.  The road is one way and mostly gravel with paved sections at the low washes and the steep grades so any type of vehicle can enjoy the 21 mile drive.

We'll soon be heading up the road you see into the mountains.

See the arch?
I'm going to leave you here at my first sighting of the arch.  We'll finish up tomorrow.

See you later.

  5. My old marathon trick after running for six hours was electrolytes. Drink a gatorade or something like that and you will feel much better the next day. Beautiful pictures ... it sure is pretty country.

  8. Finally catching up, our internet connection was bad where we were. Tom and I love the area you are in. No matter what ride you take the scenery is beautiful. Your pictures are wonderful as always. You and Yuma keep enjoying and take care.
