Headed to Why and met fellow blogger

Location:  Darby Well Road near Ajo, Arizona

Slept well last night and for the last two nights there has been no chill in the air in the morning.  I like that.  Morning is my favorite time and Yuma and I like to sit outside when it is comfortable to eat breakfast.

Yuma had a run in with a fly this morning and all day he has been cowering, afraid to go outside.  Silly dog.  With a leash I was able to get him to walk with me around the area.

House Finch standing on the cactus outside my door has such a beautiful singing voice.  What a treat this morning.
Just after noon I finally got myself out of my lounge chair and headed south towards Why, Arizona about seven mile south of here.
Highway 85 going south to the Organ Pipe National Refuge and Mexico.
Unique waterfall.
We stopped at the Why Not Travel Store.  Also the only gas station in town.  The in place in Why.  In fact, the only place.

Neat sign on the wall in the back of the store.
I was able to pick up another bucket of whipping cream and a small block of cheddar cheese.  Happy to get the cheese.  I ran out this morning.  Interesting they had a sign saying only three people in the store at any one time and only one item per person.  I didn't count the people and they didn't throw me out. :))
Mural on the north side of the store.
Mural on the back of the wash rooms.
Mural on the front of the wash rooms.
The main reason I came down here is because they have trash cans available and I had three bags to get rid of.
We were soon on our way north towards home so I could get my valuable grocery items into my very big refrigerator before they were ruined.

mentioned that Gaelyn, a fellow blogger I have met several times over the years was in the area.  Today, I decided to look her up.

Went to her blog, Geogypsy and as I was looking at her photos, it looked like she was in my site.  So, I took a walk to the next road over across the wash from me and there she was.  My nearest neighbor outside reading a book.
There's her camper across the wash on the far right.
Yuma and I had a nice chat with her and caught up on what we have been doing the last two years since I saw her last on Palm Canyon Road.  She is also a regular at the Bloggerfest each year.

The afternoon has been so nice and quiet.  I wrote Dolly earlier that it was so quiet here that  my Tinnitus (ringing in the ears) was driving me nuts. :))

Time for grilling.  Hope it is as good as last night's dinner was because I'm having the same thing.  Why mess up a good thing?
Painted sunset tonight.

See you later.

    1. Thanks Patsy. If you've never been to Ajo or Why you need to do it. It's out of the way so it takes an intentional effort. Enjoy your lock up time.

    1. Thanks Steve. I hear Cactus Wrens mostly and see a few birds but not many. The weather is warming up and just about perfect these days.

  8. Our Skittlez goes into a panic if there's a fly in the trailer. Now that she's older and can barely see them or hear them, she's much calmer. Why is a beautiful place to just relax.

    1. Thanks Sandie. Flies seem to drive dogs nuts for some reason. I really do like it here and hope to stay the full two weeks. Maybe the panic will die down.

  9. The little stores in Ajo and Why might be better stocked than my neighborhood grocery :)) Nice to meet up with Gaelyn, we've never met but I too follow her blog. You are both camped in a wonderful area.

  10. Funny how dogs react to flies. Yuma hates it when they land on him. Why is a nice area.

  13. Enjoyed our visit. I stopped in town to pick up water and everything is open as usual. Short on items still but about the same as the other day. If you need something I can run you into town in the jeep. No bother.

  14. Im not sure I knew about Why. It sounds like an interesting place. Love the bright colors. Poor Yuma..I feel for her..I don't like those pesky flies either. I have been unable to find any hot dogs or brats. They sound so good. We are having homemade beef stew with beer bread for dinner tonight. I haven't made this bread in a very long time. Hope it's edible.

    1. Thanks Cheri. That's all there is to Why. One store. There are a couple of RV arms and a Indian owned casino. I guess I'm glad that I bought two packages of hotdogs awhile back. Didn't know they would be a hot commodity:)) Homemade beef stew sounds good. Never heard of beer bread 🍞 🤔. Sure it came out fine.
