John March, a reader of my blog wrote a comment letting me know this is the American Endurance Horse Competition I am photographing.  He also mentioned he believes one of the photos I took is of his daughter-in-law.  Sure is a small world.

The weather is again cool and breezy, but the sun is shining bright. It is probably a great day for the horses and their riders.  The riders were out early today and I again took way too many photographs.  May take a number of days to get them in.

I am cheating a little today.  I have entered a bracket in the NCAA tournament, so I’m watching some basketball today.  Watched the amazing game last night when the 16 seeded Maryland-Baltimore County beat the number one seed Virginia.  Doing pretty bad.  Last in my Group and in 15.9 millionth place in the tournament.

It almost looks like many of these horses know they are being photographed.  They throw their tails and prance for the camera.

See you later.

  1. Beautiful sunrise - even if it is chilly. More beautiful pictures of beautiful horses! They never get old. Do you know if this is a contest or more of an informal get together? Can't blame the ponies for tail tossing and pricing. They love showing off. Good luck with your bracket! Have a good night. ❤

  2. Thanks Dolly. I stopped by the camp today and this is a competition with winners and losers. They ride for 25 and 50 miles so it is not for your average horse. These horses train for long distances.

I think my basketball selections are pretty bad. I'm still in it for the final win though! Good night. Lutoo

  3. I noticed from your earlier posts that the horses all seemed to be Arabians and wondered why. Now I know it is an endurance race it makes sense. Arabians are the best endurance horses there are.

  6. Thanks to John March !! Lots of "googling" - but I had not been able to find anything about this event. Now, I have bookmarked the AEHC website and it is full of very interesting stuff. Also, I am noticing the braces on the legs and the fancy red hoof things on some of the horses. You are sure lucky and I bet some of these riders really enjoy seeing you on the trail. πŸŒ΅πŸŒ·πŸ΄πŸ¦πŸ•πŸŒž

    1. I google too and could find nothing regarding the event here. They've had it the two years I've been visiting here. Not sure why no information.

Some of the horses have leggings and painted nails. Beautiful animals.
