Finally, the White Lion Roars!

This morning, I did my brain teasers early and before 9 o’clock I turned the key on in the cockpit and the WL again started, but I let the key go too early and it died.  Tried again and it turned till the batteries were nearly depleted, but it finally started.

Two mornings in a row.  Today, without breakfast I removed everything from the WL and pulled in the slide.  Off we headed to Yuma.  First place was Love’s for fuel and propane.  Dropped a cool $267 for diesel and $95 for the propane.

Next, we headed back into California and stopped at the service station near our site and dumped tanks.  The only thing left is to take on water, but I have to fill a small crack in the water tank before doing that.  I’ll stop by the sand dunes rest area to fill the tank when I’m heading to Borrego Springs since it is on the way.

I was back in the campsite by noon.  Yuma was so happy that his friends were here.  He made a dash over to Deb and Riley’s place to get pets.

The rest of the afternoon after catching up on breakfast and coffee, I just laid around enjoying the nice sunny day.  At 3:30, Yuma was barking for me to head over to Tom and Deb's, Celebrating the Dance for Happy Hour, so off we went, picking up Deb and Riley, On a long and lonesome highway…. along the way.

We were just getting settled in when Ivan, Roadtrip 2023 pulled up in his blue truck to join us.  We sat around and chatted till 5:30 when the coolness of the late afternoon pulled us home.  Ivan had a number of magic card tricks to entertain us.  He certainly had us wondering how he did them, but like all professionals, he wouldn’t tell us.

I was starving when we got home so I had a big pork chop and grilled potatoes again for dinner and lots of cookies and whip cream for dessert.

I’ve been wanting to catch the full moon coming up over the mountains the last few days, but forgot until it was too late.  Tonight, I came pretty close.

Watched Gold Rush during dinner and now finishing my post for the evening.  Had a nice day and feeling good about the White Lion.  Two months in and still have hope I will make it through the winter, so can't complain.

Thanks for stopping by.

  2. Have you considered getting the Battery tested. If it has a bad cell it could be part of all your problems.
    Still making us jealous.

    1. I'm going to check all the starter wires to make sure nothing is loose or corroded.

  3. The White Lion is your opposite and is a morning rig. WL likes getting up and moving about early, she wants to be able to get going and back before late in the day and get to home dirt early. Settling in takes time.
Glad it all went well Doug. We kept an eye on the road and the phones nearby just in case.

    1. Thank you. I certainly didn't want to break down on the road on my first trip out. I'm beginning to think there is something to the early bird thing.

    1. Now I'm ready to go deeper into California when the weather gets better. Still cool just a little ways north in the weather pattern.
