Set my alarm for 8:15 this morning to make sure we got to the East 32nd Street Walmart by 10 o'clock. Only about a 40 minute drive so we had time to take Yuma for a walk and finish packing with plans to eat breakfast when we got there. The RV repairman had one other job and planned to meet us around noon.
It was just after 10 when we arrived. It is going to be a high 60s day with no wind and lots of sun. We had our breakfast and then rested a little. Just at noon, Mark the repairman showed up and while I showed him what was what, Nick went into the Walmart to shop.
It wasn't long into our review of the problem that I could tell he didn't want to jump into it. He thought it was going to be a simple switch out of inverters and he would make a quick buck and be on his way to his next gig. He did give me some thoughts of what could be causing my problem so after he took my $50 off he went.
I spent a couple hours working on what I think might correct my problem, I got tired and we decided to head home and work on it tomorrow. If that doesn't work, I will reluctantly call RV Connection and have them work on it since they sold me the inverter/converter.
It was getting near six o'clock when we headed out and stopped for gas for the Jeep and diesel for the MH before leaving Arizona for our home in the California desert.
Unfortunately, it got dark before we arrived to the road to take us back to our previous location. Nick was leading the way in the dark and found out how easy it is to get disoriented in the desert after dark. We finally stopped and found a flat spot till morning when we can see where we're going.
Saw a flashlight and up comes Tom. We had missed our turn and weren't far from home. We decided we'll just stay put. Had a quick sandwich dinner and it's now 9 o'clock and time for dessert and bed. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day 😐
Thanks for stopping by.
I'm sorry things didn't work out today. MAYBE you'll be able to use one of the repairman suggestions to get things up and running.im glad Tom was there, so you could get your bearings. The desert is very different after dark. Hope tomorrow's a better day.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dolly. I feel confident that his suggestion work. Sounds very logical. We were close but it was so black everything looked the same. Today will be better.
DeleteWell hope you are able to get the inverter fixed and don't have to call RV Connection. Wow you guys were close to getting home. Good thing Tom was able to help you guys!
ReplyDeleteI hope so too. We were close but luckily we can stop anywhere and call it home.😃
DeleteHow does a day go so quickly? Sorry the mobile guy was apparently too lazy to want to fix the issue. Hate driving when it's dark, you were close. Nice that Tom came looking for you :) Hopefully today is a better day for you three!
ReplyDeleteI hope we have a solution and it works. Driving in the desert at night can be challenging. Nick is learning so real life stuff on this adventure.
DeleteI think you're right the mobile repair guys can replace things, but not necessarily have the experience or equipment to diagnose.
ReplyDeleteIt's easy enough to get turned around in daylight, navigating the desert in the dark is a definite challenge.
I could tell as soon as he looked into the bay that it was more than he wanted to spend the time on. He did have a good suggestion and if it works will be worth the $50. Nick is learning what it's like to drive at night in the desert. 😁
DeleteGetting lost in the desert after sunset is unbelievably easy!
ReplyDeleteNot too surprised those guys couldn't help. 😒
I had high hopes they were the right people but not so. Nick now knows driving in the desert at night is hard. 😄
