Football, Mine Hunting and Yellowstone

Woke up around 8 o'clock and turned the heat on and went back to bed and read blogs till 9.  Got down to 39 last night, but today is starting out bright and sunny with just a little breeze.  Unfortunately it is from the northeast, so chilly in the shade.

After breakfast we laid outside in the sun for awhile.  While laying there this little hummingbird was wanting something to drink so it landed on the feeder just above my head.

Giving me the evil eye!

As the day progressed we watched a little football and  it got fairly warm outside at 57, so around 2 o'clock we decided to take just a quick ride along the Cargo Muchacho Mountains just north of us.  Today, we just skirted the south side looking for mines.  Hopefully, soon we will spend a day driving around inside the mountain valleys.

On our first climb following tailings up the mountain side we found our first mine.

We flipped a coin to see who would climb into the mine and I won!  At least there would be someone to tell the world where Nick is buried if it should cave in. 😁

American Girl Mine in the distance.

Can you spot Yuma?
It was already getting late by the time we got back home at 4:30.  We had steak, rice and beans for dinner at 5:30 and then it was time for last week's episode of Yellowstone we missed and then it was time for the season 4 finale.  Great show.

Now time for pudding with whip cream and then finish this post and call it a night.  So far a great year! 😀

Thanks for stopping by.

  1. Good to know your year is going well. Super pictures of your trip to look for mines. Yuma really enjoys exploring everything. That's a cool picture of Nick in the mine. Yellowstone was good. It ended like I thought it might. I hope you all get some warmer weather.

  4. Cool mines to explore, not that I would go very far in. The views are always spectacular, even inside the caves.

    1. I figure if they've been there for a hundred years we should be safe. Rattlesnakes are another matter.
