Looking for batteries

This morning at 8:30, Yuma barked until I got up and took him for a walk.  Overnight the winds came in at 15 - 25 mph and are forecasted to blow all day.  Thank goodness it is warm with lots of sunshine.  Went back to bed until 9:30 and then it was time to start the day.

Last night I made the decision to go look at RV house batteries today.  My current batteries are not holding up through the night to serve my residential refrigerator, so it is time.

After a leisurely breakfast outside on the south side of the White Lion protected from the wind, I headed into Yuma at high noon leaving Yuma with Nick.

My biggest reason for going is to find out how many batteries I need and Interstate Batteries is a good place to get information about batteries.  I know what I want.  100ah AGM batteries but I'm not sure how many to get.  I figured I needed four for my 600 watt solar panel system and sure enough that is what they quoted me.

I was ready to buy so asked them if they had four in stock and they said no, but were expecting a shipment in any day now.  That was a complete letdown 😠  A big battery company with no batteries!!

Told them I was headed to Quartzsite soon and he mentioned they deliver batteries to Discount Solar in Quartzsite and if I called them they would reserve four batteries when delivered from here in Yuma.  Tomorrow, I will make a few calls here in Yuma and if necessary in Quartzsite to try to get hold of four batteries.  Let you know what happens on my battery quest.

Got back to camp around 3:30 and we all laid around soaking up the warm sun till dark and then fixed a quicky dinner.

Nothing on TV tonight, so doing my blog early and will be in bed by 9 o'clock.  By the way, the Charger / Raiders game last night was the best back and forth suspenseful game I've seen in quite awhile.

Thanks for stopping by.

  1. I hope you can find new batteries sooner rather than later. It's a bummer to have to worry about your fridge not getting enough juice. The LAC/LV game was a good one. Too bad Nick's Chargers couldn't come out on top. Hope tomorrow is a better day weatherwise.

    1. Me too. Be nice to know the age of my batteries and hopefully solve my fridge running overnight problems. My days seem to go up and down but at least nothing major in the scheme of things.

  2. Sounds like a good day out on Ogilby. Hopefully the batteries come in soon so you do not need to worry about that fridge overnight.

  3. I had to replace the converter a couple years ago. The one I used will support AGM and like you I'll install them when the time comes.
    Good luck with your replacement.

    1. Not much to replacing batteries. Just got to put the cables back where you took them off and not screw up.

  4. When I had my big rig, I got new batteries ... all Interstate AGM's. Costly, but boy were they worth it. Seems everything is hard to get ahold of at the moment. As soon as my 5th wheel batteries get low I'll replace them with the same thing.

    1. Thanks Nancy. I feel better about getting Interstate. I know they are a good company. Hopefully this will solve my problems but at least I know I have new batteries. Had no idea how old the others were.

  5. Good luck with the batteries. Sounds like it shouldn't be too much of an issue. Your current batteries just getting older and time for replacement?
