Arches in the wash and NFL Play-offs

Location: Truckhaven BLM near Salton City, Calfornia

Had a very busy night trying to get everything done and didn't get to bed till around 11 o'clock.  Then I woke up at 3:30 and couldn't go back to sleep.  Got up just before the sun around 6:30.  Didn't have breakfast.  I'll eat later.  Looks like another gorgeous day.  About 50 degrees already with no wind and a promise of 75 later today.

Last evening, Yuma and I made plans for Deb to take us on a hike to an arch in the washes to the West of our camp.  We headed out at 7 o'clock with the sun just peeking over the the Chocolate Mountains to the East of the Salton Sea.

Yuma loves to run the washes and this morning he had someone else to show off for.  He's a clown, running up and down and through the washes, zooming just past our feet.

Making sure we're watching his antics.
Wasn't long before Deb found the arch.

We walked to the West for about one and a half miles and I decided that was my limit for today.  This will be my longest hike so far this year and with the hike back it would be three miles so I didn't want to overdo it.
Santa Rosa Mountains across from the badlands.

Not many trees around this area.

Yuma was being a ham again.
As we were walking in the wash on our return, we could hear a drone above and soon these two gliders were above us.  I bet they were getting beautiful views.
After returning I went in to get breakfast going and turn on the TV in preparation for the two play-off games.  Kansas City won handily against Tennessee.  I was for my old hometown team, the Kansas City Chiefs.  Watching the second game hoping Green Bay will come back, but my gut tells me they won't.

During the day the desert dune buggies and bikes continued their racing through the area.

The kids learn early.  Father teaching his son or daughter how to bike over the hill.  Didn't happen today, but soon I'm sure.
Can't complain.  We're living right in their playing field.
Cloudy and warm this evening, so will leave you with this evening picture.  Our military at work.

Time for dinner.  See you later.

    1. I knew they fueled planes and jets in the air but didn't even think that the plane was fueling the helicopters. Thanks for cluing me in. Live and learn.

    2. Wow, Yuma is very sure-footed and confident to fly at top speed up and down the walls of those washes. You can tell he loves it & makes a cute clown for some great photos. It would sure be lonely without him.😎

    3. Thanks Moonfly. He is my best buddy and companion. He has so much energy and is a large part of what gets me up and about each morning.

  3. Yuma was having fun this morning! Glad you enjoyed the walk. Nice to go when it was nice and cool and before too much traffic started in the washes.
I enjoy watching them all go by and you're right about the dad teaching, although I think the little person was getting braver before they were finished.
I didn't see the military, I guess I was busy. Great photos.

    1. Was a beautiful morning for a walk. Almost had to laugh watching the little one trying to get the courage to putter I've that hill but just couldn't. :))

  4. My puppies run like that too .. but in the opposite direction from me. I would probably never see them again. Those games were really good. Glad to see Kansas City win. As to Green Bay, they just couldn't get it together. They tried at the end, but it was too late. Can't wait for the Super Bowl.

    1. It would be scary to think that Yuma would run off. He did once when I first got him. I get a lump in the pit of my stomach when he is gone for long. The games were good and Mahomes was great just like Len Dawson was when I lived in KC. Go KC.

  5. That arch in the wash was a great find. The pictures of Yuma doing his favorite thing out there, running, were great. Tom was not a "happy camper" when the Packers blew it.

    1. I thought of my son Ben and Tom when GB lost. They just couldn't get it going. Didn't play like they should have. Too bad. Dolly told me if they had won, we would have had a rematch of Super Bowl I . That would have been something.

  7. Nice action shots of Yuma. You have a lot more patience with those noisy ATV's than I do. At the first sound of noise I'd be packing up and heading out. I don't know how I got so cranky in my old age but I did.

    1. Hadn't even thought about the noise as bothersome for some reason. I hope to find a quieter place soon though.
