This was really one of those days where everything went in slow motion. It was a warm night and I woke to cloudy skies. Not the rainy type but the overcast type. It was 8 o'clock but I felt so comfortable lying in bed.
It was near 10 by the time I got out of bed to take Yuma for a walk. Not a soul around. Everyone is gone that make noises. Dolly said it was 64 degrees and she had the kitchen windows open. I think Spring is trying to come out. I don't know what this plant is, but I almost stepped on it. Don't see many green plants in the grasslands.

Clouds but some blue too. |
I must have forgotten to take my Tylenol last night because my back was as stiff as a board and I walked like an old man. As I sat eating my cereal I noticed that my 3 banded ponytail beard was dangling in the milkπ. Guess I better add a 4th rubber bandπ. It was past noon when I finally got my three course breakfast finished.
By this time Yuma wanted out of the house, so we jumped in the Jeep and headed west on our dirt road towards some large oak trees I knew were down there. I always enjoy seeing old oak trees still growing and strong. Tylenol has done its job!
First oak trees had several vans under them. I did notice they didn't park right under the large limbs.π
Went on down the road till we came on the last of the oak trees in this area and no one was parked there so I did.

That low limb brushed the top of my Jeep.
|
The limbs have grown all the way to the ground and I see someone has built a firepit under it. We walked the area and came on this cactus in bloom.Maybe someone knows the name of this cactus because I don't. We headed back to the White Lion and just enjoyed the afternoon inside watching TV. Not too excited to be outside right now because the wind has picked up a little and with cloudy skies I lose my enthusiasm.
I kept putting it off till I finally decided to clean the bathroom and leave the bedroom till tomorrow. Not very fast at this cleaning stuff. At 3:30, I got off the couch and got to work.Took an hour for that little room. Had to wipe Pledge on all the oak on the cabinets and two doors. Around 6 o'clock I got up to fix hotdogs only to discover I ate them a couple days ago. Luckily, I had hamburger I bought on my last visit to Walmart, so it's cheeseburgers for the third night in a row. Pulled out a steak for tomorrow night. π
Had been putting off washing the dishes for a few days so tonight was that night. Got them clean and I'm now finishing my post at 8:45. Where does time go. One minute I'm laying around watching TV with all the time in the world and then I'm running around in a frenzy trying to get everything done by 9 o'clock.π±
Done and now back to a few minutes of TV and then to bed. Thanks for stopping by.
Those big oak trees are amazing. I hope you find out what kind of plant that is (that you almost crunched).I hope someone knows the variety of that wonderful blooming ca tus. Always good to get cleaning done.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dolly. Cleaning is now done till I get home. I've gotten two good answers as to what that Cactus. That little guy I'm sure is a desert flower of some kind with no flower π
DeleteHello Doug,
ReplyDeleteI know you definitely like the all cactus! When we lived in the Tucson as a kid we loved it. My brother and we 4 years older than the twins. And my Dad loved the desert, we were the bird dogs when Dad and others shot doves. And my Mom could fried them up, and they delicious!
I think you love the desert like a I do! Take care, Rawn Stone
My young memories are of south Georgia living in the woods and lakes. Used to snake hunt with my two brothers.
DeleteI remember one Christmas when we kid's we got Daisy pump BB guns, cowboy boots, and cowboy hat's! I wish we still had them! Hope to see you soon, take care, Rawn Stone
ReplyDeleteI have those same memories. I was more a Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone fan because of where I lived as a Young boy. And of course the TV shows of the time. Let me know when we can meet.
DeleteMaybe Thursday, if that works for you?
DeleteThe cactus is a Staghorn Cactus. There are a number of them in the Saguaro East Park.
ReplyDeleteStaghorn or Cane. The pictures I see on the Internet, it looks like both of those. Thanks for recognizing it Clark.
DeleteI'm glad to know the name of that cactus. I had no idea either!! I'm with you Doug ... cleaning is not my forte. Especially when it's the hand and knee kind. Love the old oaks, but I probably wouldn't park under them for long. It would be my luck a huge limb would fall off!!
ReplyDeleteAlways liked the old oaks with limbs hanging to the ground. Don't see many anymore. Done with cleaning this trip π
DeleteThat is a beautiful Cactus. Glad Clark knew the name.
ReplyDeleteWe prefer not parking under trees for a number of reasons.
Look like you missed a spot on the floor. LOL!
Be Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
I can understand. With the gusty winds we are having today I wouldn't be close to those monster trees.
DeleteWow those are some huge trees! The cactus is lovely! You did a great job cleaning the bathroom! I love your 3 course breakfasts LOL..
ReplyDeleteI read your posts and you're talking about getting up at 0500 and I cringe. I would get more done that's for sure π Love those huge trees.
DeleteAlways nice to see the giant oaks and cottonwoods in the arid areas. Bathroom looks great!
ReplyDeletei think your cactus looks like a Cane Cholla
Thanks, Jeff. Love the old trees. Cottonwood and Oaks are both favorites of mine. I was trying to think of that Cactus name but couldn't come up with it. Thanks.
DeleteI love those oak trees. The top to the kitchen island Jerry made is from a Valley Oak. I love touching it. Looks like you have a good size bathroom. You and I keep the same schedule. All of a sudden the morning and early afternoon are gone. I wish I was a morning person but I'm not! Yesterday we had the same weather you did. Today looks like wind. Enjoy today!
ReplyDeleteThanks Elva. Today is very windy. Keeping us indoors. Yes, unfortunately half the day is gone before I finish breakfast. The best part of the day for me ☺ Fantastic that Jerry is that handy. Something to cherish.
