Seems they are special, so I called my good friends across town, and Sam said they could do it and to come by Monday morning. One more treacherous drive 26 miles across town. NOT! I am going to go over tomorrow afternoon. Should not be as bad on a Sunday afternoon. I will spend the evening camped outside their place and be Johnny on the spot, Monday morning.
I wanted to make sure the WL would start and it did. Pretty good this time. It does seem the exhaust smoke is better. Didn't flood the area. Decided to make sure the engine light was still doing its thing so we headed toward Florence with the thought that if it came on, we would turn around and immediately come back to Kay's house.
Sure enough, it came on after about 16 miles and turned off and on at a steady pace for about 5 miles and then it was gone for the rest of the drive back.
Spent a little time after we returned to rest and pick up around the inside to make it more comfortable. Not knowing if I'll be packing a trailer soon kind of slow things down.
Around 2:30, Yuma and I jumped in the Jeep and took a ride down Apache Trail for about 10 miles and stopped at a trail heading up towards Superstition Mountains. I can tell I'm out of shape as we didn't make it far. I had forgotten my camera so these are phone shots.

Didn't stay long. But it was relaxing although tiring for me. Kept Yuma on a leash for fear of snakes as it is not cool enough to get them underground quite yet.
On the way back home I just had to get a picture of the quaint Elvis Wedding Chapel. I think a wedding was in progress.
Just before dusk, we jumped in the Jeep and drove to McDonalds. What did I buy? Six chicken nuggets and fries. What is it with chicken! I also got Yuma a hamburger.
Enjoyed this day. At least I had a couple of southwest adventures if things fall apart. Thanks for stopping by.
Darn engine light! I hope it's an easy fix. Beautiful photos of your ride up Apache Trail. Probably good thing Yuma was on a leash with all those chollas. What a lovely church. It looks like it's in the middle of nowhere.
ReplyDeletePoor Yuma got caught by a few anyway. That is a beautiful church. Gone by it a number of times the last few years but never stopped. Hopefully Monday I'll find the engine light is not a journey ending light.
DeleteThis White Lion story has got to end well. There are so many prayers that she works out for you. Cute chapel!
ReplyDeleteThank you Patsy. So far things are moving forward. The prayers must be working.
DeleteThose small chapels in the desert are so very interesting. Yours looks well maintained too. Enjoy your free time!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful church and you can't beat the backdrop.
DeleteI so enjoyed our visit to those mountains a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteHopefully the code is a minor thing. Less smoke is good!
Deb
They are beautiful and rugged.
DeleteI feel so bad not being the good host I normally am, with the passing of my husband things are just so raw and I can't seem to make it an hour without breaking down. But Doug and Yuma have a safe place to be here at my place anytime they want it.
ReplyDeleteI completely understand Jan. I am so thankful for you kindness with allowing to stay here till things work themselves out.
DeleteYou know Doug your White Lion seems to be doing better than you fear—you haven’t mentioned a lack of power so not likely a piston, more likely gummed up rings & the more time under load with the additives the better & soon no smoke. All the best ,enjoy the winter.
ReplyDeleteDitto Patsy!
