Visit to Tortilla Flat, Arizona

This morning, Yuma and I slept till 8:30 again.  It is going to be a beautiful sun shiny day and Yuma was ready to go somewhere in the Jeep.  Anywhere was fine with him to get out of the White Lion for the day.

So, we had our breakfast and today is the first time I've had coffee since leaving home.  YUMMY!

I have been up and down the Apache Trail a number of times, but never stopped at the little tourist town of Tortilla Flat, about 30 miles from here.  So today, we are going to be tourists.

Kay, stopped by and wanted to know if we liked slow cooked ham and I immediately said Yuma and I love it.  She offered us a plate with potatoes and a salad.  Oh my, no KFC or canned stew tonight.  Yummy!

It was about 11 o'clock when we jumped in the Jeep and headed east on Apache Trail.  Nice drive just to the north of Superstition Mountain and up into the mountains we went.  Lots of pictures from here with not much said.

Beautiful views.

Farm ranch along the way.

Mountains as far as the eye can see.

Canyon Lake coming up.

We're there.

Paddle Wheel tourist boat named Dolly.

We have a few more miles to reach Tortilla Flat and rather than overload you with pictures, we'll stop here for today.  If I haven't said it all ready, it was just a gorgeous day.  Not a worry in the world.

Kay just stopped by with the yummiest dinner I have had in weeks.  Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.  I may let Yuma have a taste.  Am I ever going to have a full stomach tonight!

Thanks for stopping by.

  1. Wow! What gorgeous dpictures on a beautiful day. It's good to get out and have a nice outing. I'm sure Yuma enjoyed it. I'll bet that coffee tasted good after so long. Now your mornings will be a lot better. 😃 Hope tomorrow is just as good a day.

  2. I enjoyed that drive. It was very scenic and the road was very skinny. Lol

    1. Yes it was. Unfotunately, since we went up, the road is barricaded 9 miles up from Tortilla Flat for repairs.

  5. That dinner looks amazing and so much of it! Is the salad cold or warm? It looks so good too! On top of that a wonderful day sightseeing! The lake is beautiful and so blue. Is there an actual town of Tortilla Flats?

  6. For sure Tortilla Flat is a tourist trap, but it's still fun. We first rode the Dolly when it was up at Lake Pleasant, would have been fun to watch it being moved down. We've seen the Big Horn seep both time we've ridden it on Canyon Lake.
Oh man - Kay sure treats you well! What a dinner spread!

  7. I've never been to this area. It sure is beautiful. Our niece lives in Scottsdale. She recently took her mom on a dinner cruise. I had no idea there was such a thing. Dinner looked really really good.
