Yuma, Arizona
Yuma was bothered by something last night. He slept most of the night on the floor. He does that when he is scared. May have been noises from the Yuma Proving Ground close by that bothered him.
We got up at 8:30 and decided to go into Yuma early to the Walmart to do our shopping. Yuma came along too. He didn't want to stay here by himself.
Got to Walmart around 9:30 and the place was still very crowded but manageable. Did my shopping as quickly as I could and I was surprised I found everything I needed.
I overdid the meat buying. I've never bought meat, Dolly always had that job, so probably made a few mistakes in that department. Oh well, Yuma is not particular. We were back to our lakeside villa by 11:30 and ready for breakfast.
Today was a day of rest and just walking around our new surroundings. Hopefully, Yuma becomes accustomed to our new home.
Looking from our door to the South towards Yuma. |
he went down to inspect anyway. He actually walked in the water, but I didn't catch that before he bounded back up. The canal runs North/South and separates the Mittry Lake area from Yuma Proving Grounds.

While I was sitting outside under a blanket reading blogs, I heard noises and when I looked up, Yuma was gone. He had met a new friend walking down the road. His name is Jeb and was four years old and as sweet as could be.
Another shot to the South with less zoom.

Have a Merry Christmas tomorrow everyone, wherever you may be.
See you later.
Small correction. I was born and raised in Yuma but we moved to CA in the early 70's. This is our 2nd winter at Pilot Knob so, I think, we are now winter visitors. It looks like you are in an interesting area. Neither Jerry or I have been here. We will have to check it out.
ReplyDeleteI was born but not raised in California. I've driven by Pilot Knob a number of times but never been in. Must be a comfortable place to stay.
DeleteThe prettiest section of the lake is coming in the south end. Just take 95 East to East Imperial Dam road and turn left. You'll run into it about 12 miles down.
That photo of Yuma going down the steep wall of canal is Amazing. You should get it enlarged & framed for sure. Wonder what was making him nervous in the night ? Hope it goes away so you can both cuddle up & sleep well. His new friend, Jeb is a cutie. Have a Merry Christmas, Doug. And the same to Dolly & your family back home. 🎅🎄🎀
ReplyDeleteThank you Moonfly. There is occasional gunfire around here and he gets spooked at anything that sounds like it.I got some great shots of Yuma and the view so I knew you would like it. Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones.

Thank you Rick. You and Kathy have a Merry Christmas.
DeleteAfter all our wandering around down there we only ever spent one night at Mitry Lake. Drove through there a couple times but that was about it.
ReplyDeleteEver since you told me about this place I have enjoyed staying here. Something about a beautiful and remote lake in the desert. Very peaceful here and they are actually adding new places for RVs to camp. Merry Christmas.
