This morning was another 8 o'clock morning with clear skies but a cool wind out of the north. Just had my two cups of coffee and crackers this morning and skipped the remaining courses.
As I was putting the last of my things away, Deb came over and gave me my bracelet. Friends I had met out here had made the bracelet of precious stones for me a number of years ago. I wore it all the time until the elastic band holding it all together broke. I put them away, but this year when I left home I brought them with me in hopes of getting a new band.
While talking with Deb last night, she said she made things like that for her grandkids and could fix me right up. This morning I now have a metal wire holding the beads with a clasp to put it on my wrist. Fits perfectly! What a nice going away gift, Deb. Thank you very much!
Finished my packing and Yuma wanted to say goodbye to everyone.Tom and Deb with Yuma |
Kathy and Shane with Yuma |
Before I left Yuma, I stopped and filled with diesel then we were on our way again. Made one stop at 2 o'clock at the first rest area so Yuma could take his walk.
The entire trip on I-8 was on good road and was flat after getting over the Fortuna Hills just east of Yuma. When we got to Gila Bend we turned south on hwy 85 and 40 miles later we arrived in Ajo. As I got into town at 4:30, I pulled into the Belly Acres RV Park and dumped tanks and took on water.By the time that was done and we got to Darby Well Road where I planned to find a nice site, the sun was getting low in the west.
Black Mountain at sundown |
As it got dark I just parked across from where Darby Well Road splits with Scenic Loop Road in a small pull-off area. I will stay here until morning and take the Jeep to look for a permanent home.
It's 8 o'clock and time to get some dinner and call it a day. Thanks for stopping by.
Glad to read you made it safely to Darby Road; sorry to read all the places you like were filled. Fingers crossed someone moves on in the morning and you can move in. Hope there is less wind there. It looks empty across the way. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteFound a site quickly in the daylight. This area is beautiful.
DeleteWhat a nice gesture from Deb. She is very crafty and good at what she takes on. I'm envious of her crocheting skills and knowledge too.
ReplyDeleteGlad that you got moved okay to Darby Road, bummer about the spots you like being taken. Hope you find a good site today.
Found a site early before breakfast. Sure glad I mentioned the bracelet to Deb. She fixed it right up.
DeleteWell for heavens sake!! I just might have driven by you in Gila Bend. If I had seen your rig, I would have chased you down. Just missed you I imagine!!
ReplyDeleteI thought you were staying in Indio. Glad you made it home safely. No it's time for searching for a 5th wheel.
DeleteMust have goofed on my comment last night. I'm glad you made it back to Ajo with no problems. Hopefully, you'll find a good spot in no time. Deb did a wonderful job fixing your bracelet. I know how much you like it, so Deb's hard work was much appreciated. Hope it's less windy where you are.
ReplyDeleteYou did good Dolly. Found a spot in no time and got setup before breakfast. Love my fixed bracelet thanks to Deb.
DeleteOn yesterday's post I thought you could have a contest of readers guessing where you'd end up today. Bet we all would have said Darby Well Road!
ReplyDeleteNomadland is on Hulu today, many more folks have joined your off-grid camping style.
I'm sure you're right Jeff. Getting more crowded in the boonies every year.
Delete🎉 Happy 7th birthday to Yuma! 🐕 🎊
ReplyDeleteYuma thanks you!
DeleteLots of people upset with what's happening in Texas. Experts have warned of that problem for years.
ReplyDeleteGlad your trip was a safe one.
Be Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
Poor Texas. Thought they were saving money but bit themselves instead.
DeleteGlad you had a safe trip. This should be a beautiful day to drive around and find a good spot. I love the stones on the bracelet.
ReplyDeleteThank you Elva. Two friends I met in 2018, Shauna and Eric made it for me. I love it. So glad Deb fixed it for me.
