Slept in till 8:30 this morning and I could hear the wind building outside. They are calling for a windy day but mostly sunny and warm. Had two hotdogs, a bunch of chips and dip with an ice cream bar last night. My stomach didn't like that combination, but I lived.
Told Dolly about it and she had worse problems this morning. A water pipe froze and broke in the bathroom and flooded it. She called our son-in-law, Evan and he came over and got the water shut off in the bathroom and she spent hours sopping up all the water everywhere. Sorry I couldn't be there to help. 😊
Had a full breakfast and tried to just lay around again today because of the wind, but Yuma was having none of it. Okay, so we took off in the Jeep and ended up on the west side of the Cargo Muchacho Mountains at the historical mining town of Tumco.
I've been here before, so decided not to follow the historic walk and head out on my own along the mountainside.I never get tired of these mountains. Lots of beauty to my eyes. Heading out.Hiking along the south side of the mountains that surround the valley that Tumco used to be in. Not much left.Way across the valley are the water tanks used by the miners. Nothing but sand in them now. If you look at the picture of the whole valley above you can see them in the distance.
Hiking around here is not a walk in the park. By the time I finish today I will have walked over 10,000 steps. Yuma makes it look easy going through washes. 😃I just can't get used to the rugged beauty in these mountains!
I don't know about Yuma but I'm bushed.
Very interesting pictures of your hike today. The mountains are rugged looking, but very beautiful. Yuma does enjoy exploring the countryside.
ReplyDeleteSomehow I'm not thinking you were truthful (with that happy face) about wishing you were home to help with the water. 🤣 I'm sure in your heart, you felt for Dolly though.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures of the Tumco area. I like the one inside the mine shaft and the way the sand looks like beach sand outside.
Oh Poor Dolly! Beautiful pictures of an awesome area! I agree with Patsy, love that picture! Don't forget to tell us which hummingbird picture you liked best :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Shirley. Dolly had a tough morning. I forgot today. Will mention tonight that it is #4.
DeleteLooks like a nice day for a hike around the mining district. And another nice sunset
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeff. That place covers a lot of area. Tough walking.
DeleteLooks like you had another interesting day exploring.
ReplyDeleteBe Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
Walked too long yesterday. Paying today.
