Petrified Forest National Park

Friday, January 3, 2014

Started our day out at 9:30 and stopped at McDs for breakfast in Albuquerque, NM before heading west toward Winslow, AZ, our stopping place for this evening.  Later we stopped at the Dancing Eagle Casino for gas in Casa Blanca, NM.

Lots of beautiful country just west of Albuquerque.

I needed to rest so Fergie took the wheel.

We couldn’t resist going through the Petrified Forest National Park, since it was just off the highway near Holbrook.  Twenty-five mile road with many pull-outs for viewing.  There are two sections of the park: the first part was painted desert scenery and the second part was the petrified forest.  I will let the pictures tell the story.

We are now at the Meteor Crater RV Park just five miles from Meteor Crater.  We plan to go there in the morning and then get to the warm desert area of Phoenix.

See you later.
