Felt tired last night. Didn't get to bed till after 10 o'clock and my legs cramped during the night. Kept waking up every hour. That is till around 5 o'clock and then before I knew it, it was 7 o'clock and time to start my day. Still felt tired. Contacted Dolly to let her know I was still alive and then read news and read blogs before getting out of bed.
Was going to have bacon and eggs, but forgot to take bacon out of the freezer. Not sure how to thaw using the microwave, I decided it was a cereal day instead. Yuma and I took a walk around the area. It is nice out with plenty of sun with just a slight breeze that felt refreshing.
Around 1:30, I decided to head over to the rest area in the sand dunes to fill my practically empty drinking jug. This would be a good opportunity for Yuma to run in the sand.

Gives you an idea of how large they are.

We couldn't get to the sand dunes at the rest stop, so I headed back to Ogilby Road and turned right at the exit off I-8 towards the dunes. Followed a sandy road all the way to the All American Canal and we got out. |
Pilot Knob Mountain to the east. |

There goes Yuma on the run. |
|
There are the dunes on the other side of the All American Canal. |

Parked under the I-8 bridge. |
I figured since we were over this way, I would drive south along the canal to see if I could get a close-up picture of the Wall.

Pilot Knob Mountain over those dunes. |
After driving for about four miles on a sandy road, I never could see the Wall close up. Took this picture with my zoom.
Made it home and worked on my post for the evening, so I can get it out early and get dinner going. Another beautiful sunset.
Going to fix dinner now and watch the Chicago Med, Fire and PD shows before hitting the sack.
See you later.
Wow! What a beautiful sunset. The sand dunes are gorgeous along the blue water of the canal. Yuma must have had lots of fun running through the sand!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dolly. Yuma is tired tonight. Water in the dunes is pretty.
DeleteNot a grat picture of the wall, but what an awesome sunset!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeff. The wall is just too far from the canal.
ReplyDeleteI think I would have a hard time keeping up with Yuma! He's quite the hiker!!
ReplyDeleteYuma usually goes back and forth several times to my one. 😀
DeleteAlthough we've driven by and through those Imperial Sand Dunes at Glamis we've never actually had our boots on the ground in the dunes themselves. They are really something to see and if one didn't know where they were they would think they were in the Sahara desert itself. I really miss those great southwest sunsets and sunrises.
ReplyDeleteWalking in the dunes is very hard for me. I don't go far. The Jeep gets me close. They are big. I couldn't walk the six miles across them. I pity the pioneers 😞
DeleteWhat a beautiful sunset! Beautiful pictures today! The American Canal is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThank you. We've had beautiful sunsets a few days now.
DeleteI got my first Covid 19 shot today
ReplyDeleteGlad you're still alive. One more to go. Hope it does the trick but remain cautious ⚠️
DeleteI love the drive around the All American Canal. I'm looking forward to Jerry getting this shed finished so we can take rides again. I love the pictures of Yuma running.
ReplyDeleteYuma does love to run in the dunes. The canal does look pretty against the dunes. Looks like Jerry is coming right along with the shed.
