I could hear pitter patter on the roof off and on all night. I knew it was going to be a wet day, so didn't even bother to get up till after 10 o'clock. When I looked out this is what I saw.
Puddles everywhere! Rain and clouds on the mountain!
Read the comments to my post and the majority went for the cute chipmunk critter and Meandering Ken hit it right on the nose. They are Round-Tailed Ground Squirrels. Checked it out on Google and it described them to a tee. Thank you Meandering Ken!
Had a full breakfast except I changed from eggs and bacon to two bowls of Cheerios with a banana. Looked to be a cloudy day, so I settled in and watched National Geographic about the Mayans for several hours.
At around 3 o'clock I noticed the sun was coming out and Yuma and I were tired of sitting around here, so we jumped in the Jeep and headed the 6 miles up to the canyon entrance.Once we reached the parking lot the clouds had cleared and I was hoping to get clear sunny pictures of the palm trees. I was worried I would get there too late and they would be in the shadow of the canyon walls so I practically ran all the way up the trail.
|Come on Yuma, hurry!|
After that we sat down and rested.
By the time we got back to camp it was 4:30 and time to get going if I want to get everything done that needs getting done before bedtime. We had a great time and I'm glad the sun peeked out for a couple of hours this afternoon, so we could show you the Palm Trees.
