Quartzsite RV Show

The games are over.  Last night I watched the last game of the evening on my cellphone as I typed my post.

This morning as I had my crackers and coffee, I contemplated what I should do today.  It wasn't hard after two days of being cooped up watching football games.  Time to get out and go somewhere.  I think I will hit Quartzsite and the Big Show in town.

Which way should I go?
Off we headed at 11 o'clock towards Quartzsite 21 miles up the road from this turnoff.  Twenty minutes later, the traffic came to a halt and I knew we had arrived.
Then I could see off in the distance the Big Tent, my destination for the day.

The place was crowded, but we got a parking spot very close to the Big Tent.  Lucky Ducks!  I can even see "Q" mountain from here.

There were a lot of dogs present and Yuma met up with a friend almost immediately.  A young beagle that just couldn't wait to play with Yuma.   Only time she was afraid was when Yuma would do one of his big jumps.
After that we moved on into the crowds.  I was surprised at how many people were here and almost everyone was wearing a mask, even outside the tent.  And did I mention there were lots of Yuma friends here too?

Do I dare go inside!?

You knew I would!  They had it setup so the aisles were one way and everyone was required to wear a mask.  I wasn't worried at all.  Safer than Walmart in here.  I wandered around but didn't buy anything.

Then it was time to head towards Tyson Wells while taking in the view.

This area has lots of rows of tents with vendors selling lots of goodies.  Nothing for me or Yuma though.

Always remember the "chug chug" of that little ice cream maker.

See this young man every year playing for a handout.

Kuehn Street busy as usual during this week.

Wish I could fit this guy in the White Lion. 😀

Resting before heading home.

A wave goodbye and we were out of there!

Had a great time.  The weather was perfect.  A slight breeze with some clouds to ward off the heat of the sun.  Couldn't ask for a better day.

After getting home and working on this post forever, I noticed it had clouded up considerably outside.  I think they are calling for a couple days of clouds with some rain.  Glad I got my trip into Quartzsite in today before the bad weather.

See you later.

  1. It's a good thing you visited the big tent show today before the rain comes. Sure a lot of exciting sights and friends for Yuma to visit in Q. That's one giant Michelin Man! Sounds like a fun day.

  2. That beard sure is getting long, might need to braid it soon so the wind don't knot it up. Amazing so many out over there in the Q. Hope your tanks are working well.

    1. Yes it is. I did put a couple of rubber bands in to keep it down though 🤪 My tanks are doing great. No worries anymore.

  3. It was a beautiful day. I'm glad you and Yuma had a good time. I was concerned after reading so many negative comments about the festivities. I don't know why people have to be so negative. Have a nice Tuesday. Let's see if we get any rain tomorrow.

    1. It seemed to be going fine to me. I talked to the manager of the big tent and she said attendance was down over the weekend. No rain so far.

  5. Quartzsite is looking pretty normal. We've jostled our way through that 'Big Tent' a couple times and I was always glad to get out of there. I recognized a couple of the vendors outside the tent and along Tyson Wells.

    1. Nothing much different. Crowds are smaller but I was surprised to see so many people on a Monday.

  6. Well to be honest, it doesn't look crowded compared to previous years. Glad the weather held out and happy for the vendors that people showed up. At least they will get their monies worth. It's a great show and fun to walk around the Big Tent. I bet Yuma had a great time. Enjoy the sun!!

    1. You're right Nancy. The crowds were smaller but still more than I thought there would be. Still hard to get around. Yuma had a great time with all the dogs there.

  7. Glad you enjoyed your time at the Big Tent..masking outside..no thank you! Nice pics though! We sure enjoyed Beer Belly's last year with Tom and Deb..I'd drop a little $ in that man playing for his supper. At least he's not on the corner begging. :)

    1. Gave the guitar man a fiver for his strumming. Only the old foggies wore masks outside 😀

  8. I've never been to the RV show, just don't like the crowds. I thought this would be the year to go as Covid and social distancing would reduce them. But still looks like a big turnout. Glad I don't need anything :)

  9. Nice that Yuma found some friends. Also good that that people were being cautious by wearing Masks.
Having attending the opening of the Big Tent Twice some vendors told us things slowed during the week. Better then the Elbow to Elbow crowds.
Be Safe and Enjoy the beauty of the desert.

    It's about time.

  10. It would be a long drive just for an hour walk through. I just do it as tradition and not to buy. Fun thing to do on a beautiful day.

  12. Hope to see you Saturday at the not-bloggerfest. Obviously I haven't recovered enough to do the publicity that George used to do.
