Short move day

Had a lot of wind last night.  But when I woke up at 7 o'clock it had died down and when I looked out the sun had a clear day ahead.

Dolly texted to tell me everything was covered in ice and it sure looks like it.

Finally got out of bed at 8 o'clock to start my day.  As I was making my crackers and heating the coffee, Dolly texted to tell me the electricity went out.  She could see our line had been knocked down by a limb and was sparking.

She tried calling Corn Belt Electric but had problems getting through.  Told her I would try.  Called and their notice said thousands of homes were out in our county.  I reported our line was down and they said to be patient.  Called Dolly from my lounge chair in the warm sun and told her they said to be patient  😀.

It was 1 o'clock when I finished packing and headed up to the service station just 2 miles up the road to dump tanks.  First problem of the day.  The black tank must be clogged and wouldn't empty.  What a bummer.

Decided to leave and figure out what to do about it later.  Next I headed to the rest area in the sand dunes on I-8 12 miles west to take on water.

The dunes were full of dune buggies everywhere.  With the holiday they poured in to have a fun long weekend.  By the time I finished filling with water it was going on 3 o'clock.   Had troubles with water overflow again which is aggravating.   Only had about 8 miles to drive to get to Tom and Deb's place on Ogilby Road.

Their friend Shane had placed a chair where I was to park just in case.  Went over and sat with them for just a short while but had to leave to set up my Dish for Gold Rush.  Got to have priorities  😀

Had a devil of a time getting connected to the satellites and missed the first hour.  Luckily, it was a two hour special so I was happy.  It has been rush rush all day because I dawdle so much of the morning away 😞  Dolly still does not have electricity and Gold Rush is over and it is 8:30 here and 10:30 at home.  She says she's warm snuggled up with Fergie in bed for the night.

Beautiful sunset tonight.  No wind which was good for Tom.  He was finally able to have his big bonfire 😀  I missed it tonight but hopefully there will be other nights.

Hopefully,  the electricity comes on for Dolly in the night and hopefully, tomorrow my rotor rootering has results before I'm swimming in this s**t!  😞  Stay tuned.  Nice start to the New Year!

See you later.

    1. Still no electricity. We ha e several generators but she can't get out of the house to get gas. Her neighbor ran a cord over so she's OK for now.

  5. I'm sure you'll figure out the holding tank, I've thought of getting one of those hose attachments to backflush the tanks.
Hope they have the power back on at home quickly - it's cold there!

  6. Oh no. What a day! When you lose electricity do you lose water too? That was the one thing I didn't like about living in the country....no power no water. Glad you got the satellite working!

    1. Luckily the water works. We have city water and propane water heater 😀 Still no electricity yet, but the neighbor ran an extension cord to the house so she now has heat. Got it as good as living in the White Lion 😀

  7. Had a similar problem with our Black Tank but since we have a Fifth-Wheel it was an easy fix. In the desert the liquid from the Black Tank evaporates. Adding a Clear Elbow and a Twist on Gate Valve I back-filled the Black Tank with the Grey Water from the upper Grey Tank. It was left to set for nearly an Hour. When I opened the Gate Valve the Black Tank emptied. I then repeated the process with the lower Grey Tank. No problems after that.
Hoping Dolly got her power back on.

    It's about time.

  8. Thanks Rick. I bought one of those clear elbows with a hose fitting for back washing. I may have to give it a try if I can find a place with some water pressure and a dump tank. Dolly is still waiting but a neighbor ran an extension cord over so she has limited electricity now.

    1. Thanks Deb. Dolly is still waiting but neighbor brought over an extension cord and now has one line from their house. Nice of them. I think I'm going to hire a pro and not try it myself 😀

  10. Loved the pictures of the sand dunes. I'm glad you got set up near Tom and Deb and their friends. I think getting a pro to work on your tank problem is an excellent idea. Beautiful sunset - as always out there.

Thank you everyone for your concern for our plight at the old homestead. We'll be fine until the ctews make it out our way.
