Thursday, January 25, 2018 – Location: Palm Canyon Road
Missed the sunrise today. Didn’t get out of bed till 8:30. Today looks a little partly cloudy and some wind. Temperature is not bad at all. Fired up the Wave for just a bit.The wind was coming at an angle that forced me to bring the awning in because it was trying to lift up and fly away.
Just had cereal and grapefruit with OJ this morning and read my blogs. It was 11 o’clock and Yuma was ready to go somewhere.
So, today is the day we go to Quartzsite. Maybe it won’t be too crowded today. Sure!!
We are about eighteen miles south of Q so didn’t take long. I couldn’t believe about a half mile from the big tent, the traffic on hwy 95 came to a halt. Luckily, I was close enough to La Posa West to jump off the highway and use the ATV road that runs along the highway and I parked at the north end right before the Big Tent. Let the rest of them crawl up to the turn-off and fight the parking traffic lines.
The whole town is crowded!
This guy just staggered out of Beer Belly’s, ya think?
This is the one I want!!
This is the one I can afford…
It didn’t take us long before it was time to leave. Spent only $10 for a pair of pullover sunglasses. I asked the lady if she had any clip-ons to fit on my glasses and she said nobody uses those anymore. Here, try these polaroid sunglasses that fit over and around your glasses. I tried them and I like them. Plus, I can see through my camera peephole (not the technical name, but you know what I mean) and I couldn’t with my old clip-ons.
We got back to camp at 1 PM. and decided to call it a day. Here is a shot of Yuma and I when we arrived back at camp. Dolly is getting tired of flying out here just to take a photo of the two of us!
With the dust in the air on this late afternoon, it makes everything look golden. This is the kind of crowds I like.
My day is done!
See you later.
Yep, that's the Q alright 😱😵😳 Bah Humbug ! Glad you knew a short cut to avoid traffic and get in close. I like your spot in KOFA - and that last photo is awesome !
ReplyDeleteThanks Moonfly. I just loved that picture as soon as I looked at it on the camera review.
DeleteKind all alone out here which is how I like it.
What a stunning sunset! That is just gorgeous! Looks like Quartzsite is extremely crowded. When does the show wrap up? I'll bet Yuma found some new friends in that crowd! Anything interesting in the big tent This year? 9Beer Bellys looks like an A-1 adult daycare facility. I wonder if there's a waiting list? 😀 Have a good night! ❤
ReplyDeleteTha so Dolly. Tonight just had one of those beautiful settings for late shots. Couldn't stop shooting.
DeleteThe big tent closes after Saturday I believe.
Yuma drove me crazy trying to sniff everything and go to every dog we passed and there were a lot of them.
PS - there's a jet making a white sky trail in that last picture too ! 🌸🎀🍃
ReplyDeleteAwe, and I thought it was a comet streaking across the sky. :)
DeleteWell at least you were just visiting Quartzsite. I thought by your title you visited the Quartzsite Zoo, actual zoo, which probably doesn't exsist:) Very awesome pics again. Take care Dad. Love you.
ReplyDeleteThe same guy that wanted to buy one of my $80 camouflage shirts believes there is a zoo in Quartzsite. That's my son. Love you Steve.
DeleteExcellent pictures, love the sunset!!
ReplyDeleteI'll bet Q is a zoo and that's one of the reasons we left when we did.
I love your spot, looks so peaceful and comfortable.
Great picture of you and Yuma. He has a regal look about him.
Thank you Deb. For some reason every year I just have to walk the streets of Tyson Wells during the tent event. Guess I'm a sucker for punishment.
DeleteI'm glad I have this quiet and beautiful place to come back to.
Soon as you mentioned 'Zoo' I knew exactly what you meant. We were once Quartzsite Zoo goers too but not anymore. Enough of that was enough of that. Reminded me of the Yukon. Yukon have it...........
ReplyDeleteYou must hAve known tonight is Gold Rush night with that Yukon joke.
DeleteSorry you missed the fun!
The sunset was extra gorgeous last night! Pictures are beautiful! Wouldn't want to spend too much time in Quartzsite but it is interesting how many people are here. That is a wonderful picture of you and Yuma :)
ReplyDeleteThank you. Quartzsite is fun to visit on tent week just to watch the people. Almost overwhelming.
DeleteLast evening with the sun, clouds and dust, it was the perfect combination for great pictures.
You made it to the Q, not as busy as it was on the weekend. .I find the best time to go to town is before 10 am and after 2 pm, We camped at La Posa West for a few years, watched the traffic and wandered the tent many times.
ReplyDeleteLove your sunset photo.
Thanks George. It is amazing the number of people that come to Quartzsite this week. Can't believe it was even worse last weekend.
DeleteYuma and I peeked into the tent entrance and decided it was not for the dogs, so we moved on.
