Woke up to a bright sun shiny day. After breakfast, Yuma and I went into Ajo to wash the jeep, buy lotto tickets, mail some letters and throw trash away.
There is a back road into Ajo that goes around the west side of the Ajo Open Mine Pit, called Scenic Drive. It is a gravel road that winds through the hills and washes and ends up on the west end of town.
This is the backside of one of the Little Ajo Mountains. This mountain overlooks the town and has a big “A” on the east side. Many of the mountainous towns in the southwest have the first letter of the town name on a nearby mountain.
Because we are so close to Mexico, there are a lot of Border Guards running around in their green and white trucks. Signs warn us to be careful.
After finishing all my duties, Yuma and I took a drive around the town.

I will post more photos of Ajo tomorrow. Leave you with this mural on the side of a building.
See you later.
Doug and Toni Laird are also there.
